CAMPBELL RIVER: Bob Bray is pleased that this week's endorsement by paid-up members of the Social Mavrik Federation for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada goes to Leslyn Lewis and is happy to refer to her as Big Tent Lewis.
Week 3: Big Tent Lewis
On January 17, 2020, in a National Post series about conservatism in Canada, Sean Speer writes,

"This [traditional] conservative perspective is especially important in today's politics given that left-wing parties have rooted out any such voices from their ranks. The Conservative Party is now, for all intents and purposes, the only vehicle for Canadians with traditional views to participate in our politics."

In her May 22nd letter emailed to members of the Conservative Party of Canada, Leslyn Lewis writes,

"Our party is the only federal big tent party in the country.

It holds together when we decide to make it a wide and welcoming tent.

But some people are so obsessed with trying to expose cracks in our party that even the Green Party is publicly claiming they can steal supporters from us.

When we don’t retreat into our corners of the tent, but instead reach out and remember our shared values, we make each other stronger and can have healthy and vigorous discussions about our different viewpoints.

Real leadership is realizing the strengths throughout our party and bringing people together, not dividing people in order to rally one side to drive out the other.

Stephen Harper held our party together for nearly ten years, but sadly it seems like all that some members of our party took from it was that they love the feeling of power.

But this isn’t about power.

It's about the future of Canada.

We are facing the worst economic crisis in our lifetime and possibly in our country's history.

Your shade of blue shouldn’t matter.

It’s the red maple leaf on our flag that we look to.

I am encouraged to be receiving messages nearly every day from people who fled our party in the last few elections both to the right and the left, saying they see our campaign of courage, compassion and common sense and have returned to the big blue tent in order to vote for me.

That’s the kind of party I promise to build. That’s the kind of party that will attract Canadians from every region of the country. "

Current members of the Social Mavrik Federation give this week's endorsement to Big Tent Lewis for leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.

The endorsement is displayed in the Facebook section below.
Membership in the Social Mavrik Federation
I invite you, , to participate in our weekly endorsement message as a paid-up member of the Social Mavrik Federation.

The "Mavrik" part of our name is defined on page 1 of the membership application form. The "Social" part of our name symbolizes our rejection of the turbulent world view held by modern liberals based on identity politics. It is further explained on page 2 of the membership application form.

Membership gives you the chance to drop a conservative pebble in the political correctness ocean. You also get to brag about the number of your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

When you join our Federation at this time you help force all current members into another round of weekly endorsement voting for the Canadian Conservative leadership race.

FAQ #1: Is this a teachers' federation?
No, it is a couples' federation. That is, a social federation. It is modeled, however, on teacher federations with monthly dues and a structure that has sub-groups or locals. If you are half of a married couple, or were, or hope to be - then you are certified and qualified to apply for membership!

FAQ #2: Is there an income tax credit for the monthly dues?
No, we are very independent of government. Charities need their tax breaks and so do political parties - our federation supports them both and does not compete for charitable donations or political contributions.
