This week's theme is Choosing Your Activity

Passion, convenience, mobility, comfort, socializing, solitude, expense...those are just some of the factors to consider when choosing an activity. The bottom line is, to be healthy you must be active . So where to start? What to choose? Well the first step is to have an honest conversation with yourself to determine what activities fit your lifestyle and personality.

The general rule of thumb is that to feel your best, you need at least 2½ hours of moderate activity a week. Any activity that raises your heart rate and makes you breathe harder can be included. You can split up the activity into segments of 10 minutes or more throughout the day and week. (Kaiser Permanente) And you are not limited to just one activity, but may a select from a cornucopia of options.

The key is discovering an activity or activities that you enjoy, will bring you happiness and that you will commit to doing.

Check out this Kaiser Permanente site for more tips on Choosing your activity .

Moving Through the Week:

There is no time like the present. So consider your preferences and options. Decide on a physical activity that you will enjoy and add it to your weekly routine. Start by doing it twice weekly. In a short time, you may want to repeat your favorite activity more often or add an alternate activity to add variety.
