Hacking Your Sleep
Quality sleep is a key ingredient for healthy brain function and emotional well-being. The damage from sleep deprivation can be immediate and may inflict long-term harm. To optimize your overall health, here are some tips to improve your sleep:
  1. Stick to a routine. Fall asleep and wake up at around the same time for better, more consistent sleep patterns.
  2. Reduce screen time at least 1 hour before bed. Use an alarm clock if needed and leave your phone in the other room or charging far from your bed.
  3. Leave a notebook by your bed. If you’re struggling to fall or stay asleep, your mind is likely racing about how much you have to get done. Rather than scrolling through your phone, write down the list of the thoughts keeping you up.
  4. Incorporate a mindful routine. This can be in the form of mindful movement, such as relaxing Yoga Nidra. You can also try a pre-sleep gratitude practice or listening to a guided meditation to help you ease into sleep.
