The second month of the 2025 Legislative Session continued with numerous bill introductions and multiple hearing ahead of the pending deadline for Legislator Bill Introductions on March 17th. 3/3/2025 – AB221 (Support), Assembly Committee on Health and Human Services, Dr. James Mah, Dean of the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, testified in support of AB221, a bill aiming to improve the efficient provision of dental healthcare in Nevada by amending the requirements for administration of anesthesia and sedation

3/3/2025 – AB221 (Support), Assembly Committee on Health and Human Services, Dr. Steven Saxe, President of the Nevada State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Visiting Professor of Clinical Sciences with the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, testified in support of AB221, a bill aiming to improve the efficient provision of dental healthcare in Nevada by amending the requirements for administration of anesthesia and sedation

3/3/2025 – SB96 (Support), Senate Committee on Government Affairs, Leonardo Benavides, UNLV Director of State Government Affairs, testified in support of SB96, a bill which would designate January 27th as “International Holocaust Remembrance Day” in the State of Nevada

3/4/2025 – AB191 (Presentation), Assembly Committee on Government Affairs, Evelyn Airam, Graduate Assistant with the UNLV School of Integrated Health Sciences, presented AB191, a bill aiming to help attract and retain instructors of higher education by recognizing collective bargaining rights to a wider subset of employees of Nevada’s university system

3/4/2025 – AB191 (Presentation), Assembly Committee on Government Affairs, Clay Renshaw, Graduate Assistant with the UNLV Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, presented AB191, a bill aiming to help attract and retain instructors of higher education by recognizing collective bargaining rights to a wider subset of employees of Nevada’s university system

3/4/2025 – AB 191, Assembly Committee on Government Affairs, Patricia Orellana, Graduate Assistant with the UNLV Lee Business School, testified in support of AB191, emphasizing the importance of attaining workplace protection and consistency guarantees through collective action

3/4/2025 – AB191, Assembly Committee on Government Affairs, Doug Unger, Professor with the UNLV Department of English and Acting President of the UNLV Chapter of the Nevada Faculty Alliance, testified in support of AB191, highlighting the importance of stability in the fluid setting of higher education and outlining the positive influence of collective bargaining on the continuity of Nevada’s colleges and universities 

3/4/2025 – AB28 (Support), Assembly Committee on Revenue, Vice President Constance Brooks, UNLV Office of Government and Community Engagement, testified in support of AB28, emphasizing the importance of the availability of comprehensive public transportation to the UNLV community of students and faculty

3/6/2025 – AB219 (Presentation), Assembly Committee on Revenue, Wendy Kveck, Director of the Southern Nevada Arts Coalition and Visiting Assistant Professor with the UNLV College of Fine Arts, presented AB219, a bill which would invest in growing and sustaining the Nevada creative arts industry through a grant to the Nevada Arts Council

3/6/2025 – AB219 (Support), Assembly Committee on Revenue, Douglas Unger, Professor with the UNLV Department of English, testified in support of AB219, emphasizing the economic impact that can be derived through investing in creative arts and the value of encouraging young minds to develop an appreciation for creative arts

3/6/2025 – AB219 (Support), Assembly Committee on Revenue, Krystal Ramirez, Las Vegas artist and Instructor with the UNLV College of Fine Arts, testified in support of AB219, emphasizing the challenges facing the creative arts industry in Nevada
