Planning your networking for your summer!

We know you hear a lot about networking - not just from us, but from career services, friends, family, work colleagues and mentors. Still, finding the time and energy for effective networking can be incredibly challenging. Between your internship duties, getting to know your work teams, and just trying to navigate daily life, how can you get out there to build relationships with all of these new people? Read on for six ways to meet people during the summer.

Got 5 minutes? Locate the alumni directories of your undergraduate college as well as your b-school.
Got 30 minutes? Find out how to get on the mailing lists for local alumni groups and industry organizations; check with your school's alumni office about possible volunteer opportunities.
Got an hour? Draft a list of graduating second-years who will be in your city this summer and reach out to them for a networking call.
Six great ways to meet people

What have you found is the best way of making great networking connections? Maybe you prefer to meet people over coffee, or via phone or Skype. While large group interactions can be intimidating for some, there are still advantages to seeking larger groups to make new friends. It generally takes less time, is usually built around some common bonds you already share, and offers less stress in having to build connections with everyone you meet.

1. New alumni: the second-years who just graduated from your program likely haven't started their full-time positions yet - this is the perfect time to organize time together.
