Week 62: August 9, 2025

Benchmark your internship now (and revisit it later!)

,

As you've progressed through your summer internship, the ProValues exercise will allow you to definitively clarify what you like and don't like about your summer position, track whether your opinion changes in coming weeks and months, and identify what factors you should consider in pursuing jobs in the future.

The 100 Week Sprint team

To-do's this week

Got 5 minutes? Think of one area of your internship that you enjoyed, and one that you would have liked to improve upon.

Got 30 minutes? Create an account (or sign into your existing account) to complete your ProValues exercise.
Got an hour? Review the networking questions & suggested improvements provided in your ProValues report. Identify some colleagues you want to network with this summer who will be able to answer those questions.
Evaluate your internship now = more clarity later

You might be wondering, why evaluate my internship now? Here are two reasons why:
  • Accurately record your current feelings: as time goes by, your impression will get a little muddied - you may remember this time as being much better or much worse than you actually think it is in the moment.
  • Provide a baseline to return to: as summer goes on and your feelings about your position change, you can pinpoint which of your values may have been positively or negatively affected as your internship continues. This is also why you want to make sure you revisit the exercise once more mid-summer, then at the end.

Luckily, the ProValues Exercise is not a static tool. It provides a framework to help you evaluate choices in your career, and you can return to this tool as you uncover new information, particularly as you increase your understanding of future roles. Over time, you can identify your career values and assess how your past and current roles have fulfilled each of those values.
