Welcome to Week 7 and to 2017 with Fresh Fork Market!

We are so excited that 2017 is here! We're celebrating the New Year by opening the registration for the Summer Share with an awesome discount-- sign up and make your first payment by March 1st and you'll get locked into the Early Bird Rates-- starting at just $25 per week for the Small Share and $40/week for the Large. For all the details, click here

What's in the bag? It's the perfect week for pizza! Each share has two dough balls, a pint of tomato sauce, some mozzarella cheese & a quart of frozen mixed green peppers and onions. All the fixings for a dinner-and-a-movie-at-home night with the family! The Omnivore Share subscribers will also get a pound of our bulk Italian sausage and the Vegetarian Share subscribers will get some carrots and lettuce to add a fresh salad to the meal.

Each bag will also get a dozen farm eggs, some kale, a quart of pourable Guernsey yogurt, some Tiny Taters (mini potatoes), Goldrush apples, a head of green cabbage and an onion. Lots of recipe and meal ideas included at the bottom of this newsletter to keep you warm and toasty in your kitchens all week long, so keep reading!

If you haven't cooked with our pizza dough before, we've got a great guide online, with all the instructions. But basically:

  1. Allow pizza dough to thaw in fridge. Once thawed, let it rise in the bag on your counter for 30 min.
  2. Get your oven really hot, 450-500, with a pizza stone or cookie sheet inside to preheat
  3.  Dust a clean prep surface and either a thin cutting board or pizza peel with cornmeal.
  4. Roll dough out flat with a rolling pin, turning as you go to make a circle. Use a fork and make little holes all over.
  5. Lightly top the pizza-- a little sauce, a few toppings, some shredded cheese. Don't overload it.
  6. Bake for just about 10 minutes-- depending on the heat of your oven, could be anywhere from 8 - 12 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool for a minute or two, slice and serve!

The Guernsey yogurt is a real treat available only a few times a year-- it's made at the dairy arm of Wholesome Valley Farm, Paint Valley Creamery. The all Guernsey herd makes some delicious, creamy yogurt when we culture the milk. It's very pourable, so it's wonderful in baked goods, smoothies, breakfast bowls, or drizzled on top of spicy food instead of sour cream. Click here for our Yogurt Guide online
