Week 72: October 25, 2025

It's easier than you think to focus your job search
fallback,

If you have been participating in full-time recruiting this fall, things are definitely busy. As you explore choices, the sheer number of companies visiting campus can be overwhelming.
This week, we're going to save you time by helping your efforts to focus your job search. When you begin targeting industries, positions, and companies, it will help to have a clearly defined path. ProValues can help you target your search.

To-do's this week

Got 5 minutes? Look over your ProValues results from earlier in the summer and identify areas where responses may have changed.

Got 30 minutes? Return to your ProValues and add the future roles you're considering.

Got an hour? Devote specific attention to the exercise's opportunity to complete an analysis of potential future roles; begin whittling down your list of opportunities to pursue based on your results.

ProValues will help you target your search

We encouraged you to complete the ProValues exercise at the beginning of your internship, and then again partway through the summer.

Given the timing of recruiting, this is the perfect time to revisit it once again. It will help you define your parameters as you begin to consider specific offers.

  • Establish your minimum requirements: it's understandable that you may want to explore some new options as recruiting gets into gear; however, the exercise will help you identify which positions do (and, more importantly, do not) meet your minimum requirements. Beyond salary and benefits, consider the amount of travel a position offers; opportunities for continued education; and how much flexibility it offers, among other factors. Click here to return to your minimum requirements page.
  • Update with your internship details: because you completed this job fairly recently, you should have some pretty solid ideas about what you did and did not like about it. Click here to add and evaluate those internships. You'll note we didn't suggest revisiting this exercise the moment your internship was done. Waiting should have given you ample time to reflect on what was truly valuable about your experience, and what parts of the position really weren't for you.
