Week 77: November 29, 2025

Ten things to do before you graduate
fallback,

In previous weeks, we talked about setting goals for the time remaining in your MBA. Time flies, and before you know it, the next stage will be here! So before that happens, this week, we wanted to remind you to create a bucket list for your city. Below are our thoughts on ten things to do before you graduate.

Ten things to do before you graduate

  1. Check out the top tourist attractions in your city and the surrounding area! Click here for suggestions.
  2. Eat at restaurants in different ethnic areas of town (Chicago, could be every night for the rest of the year)!
  3. Put a festival/event on your schedule (for example, the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.)
  4. Ask classmates for hidden gems in the area
  5. Get photos taken with famous landmarks
  6. Visit non-MBA friends who you've been "intending" to see in the area
  7. Take a road trip to somewhere close by (especially if you know you're moving). If you don't have a specific destination, pick a town with an interesting name and check it out!
  8. Go to a concert with a local band (or symphony) depending on your musical tastes
  9. Visit a local market
  10. Try a well-known coffee shop or check out a local craft brewery. You will be surprised how many times these places come up in future discussions!
As you're recruiting

  1. Check out a local conference or event in an industry of choice.
  2. Find a new place on campus or nearby coffee shop to do work when you need to focus on job search efforts. Mix it up!
  3. Check out special events at a museum or gallery where you have a chance to meet people outside of business school. Your opportunities may come from unexpected places.
