Week 8 Games
Only two weeks remain before our playoffs and Fall Rhody Bowl championship game. Everyone makes the playoffs, the journey to the final bracket game is up for grabs. The playoff bracket will be revealed at Grid Iron after our games on 11/16. Good luck to everyone in Saturday's matchups.
The early games on Saturday are going to be cold. Get out your winter gear and bundle up! The forecast is calling for partly sunny and 27 degrees to start off our morning. It may warm up to a toasty 39 degrees by the last games of the day.

The full schedule, game scores, and team standings are posted to our website.

See you at Grid Iron after the games!
Last Call for Board Applications
All applications for our 2020 Board of Directors are due by 11:59 pm tomorrow (Friday, 11/8). We are seeking passionate individuals committed to our mission and values of inclusion, diversity, and community building.

The Board meets monthly throughout the year -- starting with a weekend retreat -- to help shape and direct our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. 2020 Board members will serve a 1-year term starting 12/1/2019. Full descriptions of Director and Officer responsibilities can be found in our  Bylaws

We will announce our 2020 Board at the end of season celebration on November 24th.
End of Season Celebration and Awards
Mark your calendars for  November 24th. We'll be gathering at Mirabar from 12:00 - 3:00 to celebrate our inaugural fall season and year.

Bring your appetite, food and deserts will be provided by the league. Captains will be giving awards, along with the winners of our Fall Rhody Bowl, and some special awards from the Board. We'll also be introducing your 2020 Board of Directors.

Askew, right around the corner, is hosting an after party starting at 3:30.
2020 Travel Teams & Tournaments
Next week we'll be sending a survey to gather initial interest from players thinking of participating in one or more tournaments next year. There are three 2020 tournaments we would like to send teams to:

  • Sunshine Cup X in Ft. Lauderdale (February 13-16)
  • Pride Bowl in Chicago (late June)
  • Gay Bowl XX in Honolulu (October 8-11)

Start to think if you're interested in attending as a player or stepping up to help us captain and coordinate our travel teams for 2020.
Giving Back
AIDS Project Rhode Island will be hosting a Food Pantry Drive at The Stable on Sunday, November 17th. The lovely Viza D. Klein will be hosting the event.

You can bring any canned good or non-perishable item, or personal care item, but below are some of the things that are hard for them to find/get for their clients.

APRI’s food pantry is open twice a week, and in addition to serving their clients a hot lunch both days, they offer food pantry shopping one week, and personal care item pickup the other. Due to the budget cuts sustained this year, they've been running pretty lean, so community support goes a long way, especially toward the holidays.

Food: Cereal/Oatmeal, Seasonings/Spices, Tea, Ground Coffee, Spam, Corned Beef Hash/Canned Hash, Dry Coffee Creamer (like Coffee Mate), Canned Fruit

Personal Care: Dish soap, Sponges, Household Cleaning Supplies, Hand Sanitizer
