A great deal of the tips we've provide over the past weeks have been focused on your job search in this challenging environment, with special attention paid to networking. This week, we'd like to talk a little bit about how you can keep your networking momentum going after you graduate.

Got 5 minutes? Write down notes about your career goals for the next one, five, and ten years as a way of reminding yourself why ongoing networking will be so important.

Got 30 minutes? Dive into online tools - update your LinkedIn page and spend some time researching what professional organizations might align with your background and interests.

Got an hour? Research other opportunities to expand your network, including volunteering, serving as an active alum, and taking classes.

Reinforce your network, even when you're not looking for work

Once you've settled into that first post-MBA job, it's easy to tell yourself that your hardcore networking days are behind you - but nothing could be further from the truth. The job market over the next 1-2 years promises to be more fluid than years past, and most likely, you've still got at least another 30-40 years of work ahead of you - think of how many jobs you'll want to network to over the decades.

As you rise up the corporate ladder, you'll be networking to find the best and brightest employees. If you're an entrepreneur, you'll need to network your way to find investors, partners, and customers. Establishing good networking habits now will help you immeasurably in every step of your career going forward.
