Happy Spring from Annapolis!

We are nearing the end of our Session and starting to see the fruits of our labor! Updates in this newsletter include the bills we still have in play this year, the funding that we are bringing to the district, and what I hope you will consider a very interesting survey!

Always remember that the REAL work is serving you all in 42B, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything! I will be holding a post-session update Town Hall in late April, and a river / trail clean-up day so watch for those dates coming soon!
Funding for 42B!
I am thrilled to have secured $275,000 to support First Fruits Farm in Freeland. Battling food insecurity is a priority for me and outside of session, I volunteer for Student Support Network, which provides food and other essential supplies to families in need.

I am also happy to bring home $500,000 for OUR Maryland State Fair in the capital budget.

This funding will be of great benefit to 42B. I am honored to be able to support these amazing organizations and our district.

I am also proud to announce that the capital budget included roughly $7.5 million in capital funding for Baltimore County schools, $3.8 million for educational aid to Baltimore County, $14 million for Towson University, and $2 million for Baltimore County Parks and Playgrounds.
Nine Bills Still in Play After Crossover
Nine of my bills have passed one legislative body and are spread across a wide variety of areas -- from ballot accessibility to special education, and from supporting the expansion of broadband to social justice initiatives. I would like to thank everyone who has supported these bills to help make a difference.

My last Senate crossover hearing is for HB 418 on April 1 in the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee.
Celebrating Heros of the Past
On March 18, the Maryland Women's Caucus celebrated the bravery of the women that came before us and who fought for women's suffrage so that I can serve you today.
Should Recreational Marijuana be Legalized?
There was recently a protest right outside my office window in Annapolis, calling for the legalization of marijuana for recreational use. I'd like to know your thoughts on this subject. Should Maryland legalize marijuana for recreational use? You can answer on my survey at the link below.
Presenting HB 392 to The Hunt Institute
It was an honor to be a presenter on early childhood education issues for The Hunt Institute, a nationally renowned education policy research institute. In front of an audience of state and federal legislators, I presented HB 392 and how this bill focusing on early intervention will help so many children with disabilities and their families.
