Mrs. Criswell's Fourth Grade Travels To Roscoe Village
On Thursday, October 3, 2019, Mrs. Criswell's fourth grade students traveled to Roscoe Village in Coshocton, OH, for a living history tour. The tour included The Visitor Center, The Blacksmith Shop, The One Room Schoolhouse and The Doctor’s Home. This home was also a part of the Underground Railroad. After a picnic lunch, students toured the museum. They saw Native American collections, a replica of a cabin and East Asian artifacts. Mrs. Criswell states, "We learned and saw so much! It was a day to remember!"
Mrs. Murphy's Fifth Grade Class Trip To
The Hartville Migrant Ministry
Fifth grade went on a special field trip this week to the Hartville Migrant Ministry and a Spanish immersion lunch at El Campesino Restaurant. The trip was inspired by their class novel, Esperanza Rising , a story about a young migrant worker's eventful life, and also their study of Cesar Chavez in Spanish class. Students were taken on a tour of the center and educated on the different services that are offered to the migrant workers and their families. Afterwards, students went on a guided bus tour of the planting fields and base camps.
For the follow up lunch, Mrs. Nieto had arranged for the El Campesino waiters and staff to speak solely in Spanish when waiting on our table. Fifth grade's practice last week with ordering in Spanish really paid off. Following a festive meal, which included Mrs. Murphy being serenaded for her birthday, students returned to Country Day to break open a pinata filled with delicious Mexican candies.
Help the Junior Kindergarten class collect aluminum can tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House of Akron! Every pound of tabs creates revenue to help house families in need during their medical care. You can deposit these tabs in the red bin outside of the Junior Kindergarten classroom.
The project is ongoing all year and it's an easy way to get the whole school involved in a service project where money/material donations are not needed. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!  Laura Roth
Would you like to play the piano, an instrument, or perhaps sing in the morning to welcome our students as they walk to their classes? Please share your gift of music with our school. Parents, grandparents, or students may perform. Sign up HERE .
Sign Up To Be A Student Morning Greeter!
As a part of the CCDS etiquette program, we are looking for students who would like to be greeters in the morning. Your child will stand at the front door with an assigned adult to help greet parents and students as they enter the school.

If your child would like to welcome parents and their classmates to the school, please sign them up HERE .

Each year, Canton Country Day School sends out information on our Annual Giving Campaign. It is necessary for all Independent Schools to have an Annual Giving Campaign to aid in the education of your child(ren). Annual Giving is very different from the Parents Association’s Great Escapes Auction. Great Escapes is an all school auction (fundraiser) that funds parent association programs and events. Annual Giving aids in the education of your child(ren) by:

  • Off-setting tuition costs/keeps tuition low
  • Keeping our teachers’ salaries competitive with those in the public sector
  • Maintenance and building updates that are vital around our campus and in our school
  • Helps defray operating costs

CCDS would like to keep giving as simple and easy as possible for you and there are a variety of ways to give:

You can make a recurring or one-time pledge and have it deducted directly from your bank account, or charged to your credit card. For example, you can set up your pledge for $10 a month from September 2019 to June 2020, you will donate $100 towards our annual giving! Remember, no gift is too small to get us closer to 100% participation. Please consider giving your donation early. Use one of the methods above to make your pledge today!
