Happy Friday!!!  Hope you have fun plans for the holiday weekend!  Please see below for the weekly update.  Any questions, please reach out!

Hospice and Palliative Care:

Hospice census sits at 71 for the week. We've had 10 admissions thus far for the week with two of those being directly from Sara for Newport News! Sara has been really shaking things up on the Peninsula including securing a meeting for her and Nichole on Wednesday at the Proton Institute in Hampton. We have been asked to attend all monthly meetings for new patients to discuss our palliative program! Very exciting news!!!

We're super happy because Caritha managed to find a candidate for the on-call RN position. So we have Rachel starting for that role next week. This means we are really only looking for one other nurse to take the other position.

Current Recruitment Needs:

  • Full-Time On-Call Hospice RNs (1) (both sides)
  • Hospice CNA (both sides or Newport News)

Human Resources:

From Bea:

Human Resources is constantly sending out notice to staff members that have upcoming expiring attributes such as CPR, License and TB’s. We would like to thank all those that assist us in reaching out to employees that are due. Your assistance is appreciated. September attribute listings have been sent out to all supervisors.

Caritha is working hard on reaching out to all applicants that apply and get them to the hiring managers. If you are interested in interviewing, please be sure to provide dates/times available to conduct interviews. She will schedule and put them on your calendar. After the interview, please let her know if you would like to move forward with hiring or not. Clinical staff are in demand and hard to find, so we don’t want them to wait too long.

Current Recruitment Needs:

  • HR Manager (or) HR Assistant (Newport News)

Home Health - Tidewater:

Virginia Beach and Newport News will end up at 17 and 7 admissions for the week, respectively.  August totals were as follows:  Virginia Beach:  Goal:  55, ACHIEVED:  72 (85 total including commercial)!!!  Newport News:  Goal:  40, ACHIEVED:  33 (34 total including commercial).  Super excited for the growth and movement here.

We found a great contract nurse who will be starting on September 19th (right before Yahmani leaves). Her name is Vanessa and Bronwyn is very happy to have her lined up! Hopefully we can find our own full-time nurse by the time Vanessa moves on.

Nguyen, Judy and Bronwyn have been busy onboarding Tori, Kaitlin, Jessica, Rosemary and Tara (and soon to be Tim...am I forgetting anyone?). They all seem great so again - very happy that they're building their team with new and wonderful faces!

Current Recruitment Needs:

  • Full-Time RN (Newport News)
  • Full-Time RN (Newport News)
  • Full-Time and PRN PT (Newport News)
  • Full-Time and PRN PT (Virginia Beach)
  • Full-Time RN (Virginia Beach)

From Bronwyn:

We had an awesome August - we had a total of 118 admits between the 2 branches!  We have brought on loads of new staff and focus on getting them up and running and trained and are really excited about them all and has been a team effort with me, Win and Judy getting them trained and up to par.

Employee retention is a success in VB - have Jose celebrating 10 years with the company this month!

Staffing needs:

Virginia Beach is continually growing with referrals. Need full-time/PRN PTs to accommodate this growth and replace previous full-time staff who are PRN now or limited in current work availability. Nursing is also needed but have contract coming so that will help.

Newport News is still in need of another full-time PT still. We definitely still need RNs!! Especially since the new Cummings account actually has some pretty involved nursing needs and referrals are coming from all ends of service territory ranges. The contract RN due to start mid-September will help but much more needed still.

Mandatory joint visits and clinical record reviews are being maintained per requirements/CHAP previous poc.

Annual evals are in process with goal of completion on time by 9/30!

Home Health - Central Virginia:

Charlottesville and Verona will end up at 11 and 5 admissions for the week, respectively.  Charlottesville hit their goal for August (goal:  47, ACHIEVED:  51) so let's keep continuing on that trajectory!  August fell short for the Verona office (27 when goal was 30) but we have a fully staffed team so September should be easy to hit goal.  No other updates to report on or from Crystal at this time.

Current Recruitment Needs:

  • PRN Physical Therapist (with hopes of moving to Full-Time when need comes) (Verona)
  • PRN Speech-Language Pathologist (Verona)
  • Full-Time Registered Nurses (2) (Charlottesville)
  • Full-Time Registered Nurse (Verona)
  • PRN Physical Therapist
