Pray for our Currently Serving Military Members
and all Current Reservists
Dear Parishioners,

Many updated and new pictures of relatives who are currently serving on active duty or reservists in our military have come in, but there is still room for more!

All parishioners are invited to submit a picture of your currently serving active-duty or reservist military service member relative for inclusion on our Prayer Board according to the following format:

1. Size: 4” x 6” and clearly show the “service ribbons” and “rank” in dress uniform.
2. There should be only one service member in the picture.
3. Please include the full name, rank, and branch of service, and submit to John McGinley at jemb1@atmc.net or bring the picture to church and give to Fr. Mark.

Also, here is a list of Service Members who formerly were on the board, but their pictures have not been claimed. Family members are asked to see Fr. Mark to pick up the picture in the sacristy.

New St. Brendan Columbarium Addition

All through life, the Catholic Church is present to the living by baptizing their young, celebrating their growth and development, blessing their marriages and praying for them during times of illness. Since death is a natural part of life, it is only fitting that the Catholic community be present at the time of death. Burial in a Catholic cemetery or columbarium is a statement of continued belief in that everlasting life, even in death.

The Saint Brendan Columbarium is a sacred space, a prayerful place of reverence, and a place to remember and honor the devout. Catholic cemetery grounds are consecrated. These sacred grounds are an extension of the Catholic Church. We have begun building our new phase. If you would like to purchase a Columbarium niche please call Rusty in the office at 910-754-8544 ext. 6.

Please remember there should not be decorations on the stones, i.e., stickers, rosaries, flowers (real or artificial), or any kind of tape as the glue may ruin the stone. Also no statues should be placed inside the columbarium. These guidelines are so the entire Columbarium will look neat, clean, and uniform.

Searchers of Scripture

The long awaited return of SEARCHERS OF SCRIPTURE is in sight! We will meet after the morning Mass on THURSDAY, JULY 28th for the first time since COVID-19 derailed our weekly sessions. The room choice will be based on the size of the group.

For those who are new to the parish or have not heard about SEARCHERS OF SCRIPTURE, we read, discuss, and pray with the readings for the upcoming Sunday Mass in order to be better prepared for the wonder of each Eucharist.

This group of men and women has a long history at St. Brendan parish, having begun at the request of parishioners in 1985. However, members are not exclusively St. Brendan parishioners. All are welcome to join. Although our discussions are usually lively, no one is required to offer comments. Silence is respected. Pondering is encouraged. Confidentiality is maintained. Most of all, Wisdom is enjoyed.

As facilitator of the group, I eagerly await our new beginning....an ongoing journey into the unveiling of God’s word for us as we live it each day.

We meet in classroom 1 off the Parish Hall from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
