All UNMC Faculty, Students, and Staff and Employees of Nebraska Medicine are welcome to attend any or all the upcoming Microsoft 365 classes that will be taught by a Microsoft Employed Certified Trainer. These 11 free classes will demonstrate how to use Microsoft apps effectively and efficiently. Attendance is not mandatory, nor does it provide any educational credits. Please use the registration links in the above link to reserve your spot. It is important to add the event to your Outlook calendar by completing the following steps after each registration.

EMPOWER and the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) will give a presentation on the resources available to students in order to foster and promote equity, access and inclusion for all genders and sexualities on UNMC's campus. This event will be hybrid.

As the new school year begins, come celebrate UNMC's diversity and get to know your fellow classmates and coworkers at the #WeAreUNMC BBQ. Enjoy free food and giveaways (while supplies last), music and backyard games. All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

In addition, the Douglas County Health Department will provide a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the event for any faculty, staff, students and their family members ages 12 and over still in need of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The UNMC Gold Humanism Honor Society, along with Dr. Bud Shaw, invite you to attend weekly Writing Club on Fridays in the Wigton Heritage Center area near Dunkin' (just off the elevator to the right on the 4th floor of Wittson Hall ). SHARING Clinics are UNMC’s student-run clinics which provide high-quality medical care to Omaha's underserved populations, free of charge. This golf tournament is our most important fundraiser each year, making up half of the operational budget. Funds raised allow us to continue serving the people of Omaha. Register for the event here.

American Cancer Society at UNMC

The Office of Community Engagement, in partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), is forming a new student organization, ACS at UNMC. We are seeking interested and highly motivated UNMC students to develop the student organization. Please contact Brooke Fitzpatrick if you are interested in this great leadership opportunity.

The Nebraska Medical Orchestra (NMO), a volunteer orchestra of health care-related musicians, is inviting new musicians to join the group beginning in September.

The Nebraska Medical Choir is a new choral ensemble opportunity expected to commence during the fall semester, with an inaugural holiday concert in early December. All interested singers should complete this interest form by Wednesday, Sept. 1.

See Us, Hear Us: A UNMC Spoken Word Event
 
Register to share your poetry, prose, or song on Thursday, September 9 at the UNMC Ice Rink. Each participant will have 10 minutes maximum to perform. For questions, please contact Channing Bunch, Director of Student Life Inclusion and Diversity at [email protected].
Summer Passport Program with Student Senate
 
Take this summer to explore Nebraska with the Nebraska Passport Program! To encourage students to get out and enjoy the state, Student Senate will be offering prizes for participating. The student who acquires the most stamps will be given a $75 gift card; second and third place will be given $50 and $25 gift cards, respectively. Passports can be requested here. Stamps can be collected May 1st to September 30th.

MUNA Box: A group led by UNMC students providing support to refugee and immigrant population by providing staple foods, education, and translation of COVID materials.

Support your NEighbor COVID-19: A group that focuses on providing support to high-risk community members, especially the elderly. Activities include picking up groceries, picking up medicine, and providing virtual companionship.
