Thursday morning Emmanuel received the following email from Pastor Livenson:
Dear Friends and colleagues,
May the peace, the grace and the love of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with us all!
It’s been a few years in Haiti the concept “peace” is not a part of our daily living. From famine, to political upheavals and gang related activities, Haiti is living a nightmare. I have reported many times to most of you that the country is not stable. Thus, these realities have intensified so much they the result falls into the unexpected. As most of you heard and saw on the TV, the Haitian president had been assassinated around 1 a.m yesterday. Right now, we are swimming in a profound uncertainty. The country has become a ghost town. Furthermore, there is the battle of the two prime Minister that is another page in our story and we don’t know how this will end.
We, as the Lutheran Church of Haiti, deplore this heinous and despicable act. Being the arms of God acting in this world, we cannot stay inactive. We request your prayers and intercessions in the midst of this Chaos. As the global church, we would like you to stand with us as we seeking peace, love, and forgiveness for a broken nation.
May God intercede for us!!!
