a Coffee Talk lunch!
Do you know what Coffee Talk is? We minister to needy people in our community by providing free coffee, food, and fellowship every Tuesday and Thursday at the park near the Venice Train Depot.
This weekend in the Narthex, you can see the goodies packed in one of the lunch bags and talk to some of our volunteers. We'd love to chat with you about what we do and how you can help!

Repairs and Updating Continues...
The roofing materials were delivered to the property on Monday, June 13th. Kingdom Roofing began the work on Tuesday. The roofing team removed all the old shingles on the pitched roofs, replaced only one sheet of plywood where there was some damage, nailed down all pitched roof areas to meet the current roofing codes and laid the underlayment. they cleaned up each area each day and made sure each area was dried in before they left for the day. They completed that part of the work Friday and we are now ready for the metal roof to begin. The metal roof company was out again this week past to verify the measurements. The materials are still being fabricated but the metal roof installers are expected to begin on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. When the pitched metal roof is complete, they will begin the work on the flat roofing areas. They are still awaiting materials for those parts of the roof but it has been a very productive and exciting week. We treated the workers to a lunch Friday and they were very grateful.

We also began the painting project of the classrooms of Rowe Hall on Thursday. Jason and Nick took down all the old white boards and disposed of them. I took down all the old awful mini blinds in the classrooms and new 2" faux wood blinds have been ordered. Since we need to have privacy in those classrooms when Family Promise is on site, we decided to do the faux wood blinds instead of solar shades which are not private in the evenings with lights on. We are planning on putting some kind of privacy film on the metal entrance doors to the classrooms as the loose blinds do not hold up on egress doors that are used often. We expect the blinds to be completed the end of next week and ship from CA so they should be installed before Family Promise meets again but if, by chance, they are not installed, I will put up privacy temporary paper shades in the classrooms so there will be privacy for the families regardless.

We hired a dumpster and managed to overfill it with cleaning out of old dilapidated furniture, blinds, white boards etc. The flooring will be done in rooms 101, 103 and 104. We have decided to strip and polish the floors in 105-106 since they already have VCT and they will look fresh and new and we can redo those down the road. The other three classrooms have old and damaged carpet that needs to replaced so the fall will bring a fresh new Rowe Hall to our church family

We are waiting on one updated painting bid for the exterior of the church and Property will then make a referral to finance and EC for final approval and contracts. We are hoping to paint the church early fall.

We are also having the cabinetry bids updated for Fellowship Hall and will have a recommendation to Finance and EC in the next two weeks so we can get that on the schedule as cabinetry is taking quite some time these days.

A great big shout out to Jason and Nick for their help and our Property committee and the Quilters for helping to get ready for this painting project.. I also wish to thank the CRTF for helping coordinate with Property to get these projects going.

I'm sure there will be a few glitches along the way but I anticipate that we will sole each one as they crop up and all will continue to be well God's beautiful world

Barb's Medical Minute
We all get sad and maybe a little depressed at times. Here are some tips to foster positive mental health.
  • Connect with others in person, phone, text, or email.
  • Stay positive by trying to find the good in any situation and don’t dwell on past miseries or misfortunes.
  • Take care of yourself by eating right, sleeping enough, and being physically active.
  • Help others which puts you outside your personal bubble by volunteering or doing a favor for someone.
  • And this one is just from Barb….S. It makes you and the person you smile at feel better and happy.
