Barb's Medical Minute...Who Knew?
Calcium is a key component to healthy bones, but it can’t act alone. It takes a village of nutrients all working together to help your body maintain or retain its healthy structure. Bone mass is at its peak at age 30, then you begin to lose it. So, for your “village” to support your bones take:
  • Vitamin D and Magnesium because these two help aid absorption of calcium.
  • Phosphorus (fish, meat, eggs, soybeans);
  • Potassium (fruits, vegetables, beans, scallops).Vitamin A (sweet potato, spinach, carrots, cantaloupe, mangoes).
So, start your healthy bone diet, exercise (seriously—does this have to be good for EVERYTHING?), and limit drinking and smoking. Then your bones will support you for many years whether you do a jig or a jog.
A Few Openings left for 2021!!
