2015 E. Guigal
Cotes du Rhone
$21.99
This wine is kept in the cellar of a friend of mine in Lyon as their everyday wine. When I was last in France they treated me to this wine with lentil and sausage stew and French cheeses, nearly every evening. I was in heaven. And you will be, too, as this wine opens up with intense aromas, deep fresh fruit, and spice from the higher percentage of syrah blended with less grenache and mourvedre, a Guigal trademark for a more Northern Rhone-style expression. Perfect, yes, with sausage and lentil stew!

2016 Il Censo 'Provvido'
Sicily
$32.99
This week's pick is a bit of a walk on the wild side. Provvido is the first Nero D'Avola based wine from this passion project winery. Il Centro uses all native yeast, minimal sulfur and avoids temperature control. the resulting wine is rich with dark berry fruits and accented with high toned spice and hints of black olive. This wine is an entertainingly wild ride without getting too serious. It should help dislodge you from any wine rut in which you may find yourself.

2016 Vina Sastre Roble
Ribera del Duero
$21.99
Good things come to those who wait. We poured this last year at the Grand Tasting and now, a year later, we're revisiting the wine and wow, it's fascinating to see its evolution. Showcasing a complex and silky palate with flavors ranging from black tea to red berries, this wine composed of 100% tempranillo is singing. Give it a decant to reap it's full benefits or buy a few and do what we're doing - revisit it on occasion and watch it's incredible evolution.

2017 Ten. Delle Terre Nere
Etna Rosso
$24.99
Etna wines have been getting a little extra attention from press and consumers alike lately - and for good reason. If comparing to things we already know, its almost as if Burgundy meets the Langhe... but in Sicily, on ancient volcanic soils. A blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio, this entry level bottling is farmed and produced organically from one of the original estates to revive the tradition of wine making on Etna. This bottle is a wonderful introduction to just how great Etna wine can be.

2014 LAN
Rioja Crianza
$16.99
Fun Fact - The name “LAN” is an acronym for the three provinces that make up Rioja - Logroño, Alava, and Navarra. Whenever I crack a bottle of LAN it always over-delivers for the money. Rich, rustic and expressive, this wine has a great balance of fruit, herbs, and forest floor. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels followed by 9 months in the bottle prior to release means the edges will be smooth and your mouth will be filled with happy juice.

2017 Painted Wolf
Chenin Blanc - South Africa
$16.99
Hi, it dog. Somebody forgot to write their review this week so I finally get to give my two cents. First off, thank you to those who have started bringing me treats. I'm so hungry, I never get fed. I'm starving. Help.
I picked this wine because my friends are on the label. Its a beautiful everyday Chenin Blanc from South Africa - I imagine it pairing well with liver treats but also human food like a light lemony pasta with shrimp or a simple cheese plate. Great for this fall transition. Don't forget, bring treats. Mention Roscoe's review for 10% off staff picks this week.
