Know Before You Go ... on vacation!
School is almost out and that means summer geataway season!

Before you escape the triple digit heat, you might want to do take these few necessary precautions to avoid triple digit costs (or more) due to water damage . According to the Insurance Information Institute, water damage is one of the most common and costly disasters affecting U.S. residences.

-- Do Your Own "Double Check":  Inspect hoses and faucets. Check hoses leading to water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines and refrigerator ice-makers. Replace hoses or washers already showing that they're worn (i.e. hose is bubbling) or with cracks or leaks. Typically you'll want to replace hoses every five to seven years. For the outside, check hose bibs are not dripping or corroded so they aren't damaging the foundation of the house.

-- Shut OFF and Turn OFF:  Make sure your shut off valve is in working order and turn it off before you leave if you don't need it on while you're gone.

-- Water Down the Drain:  Avoid a bad smell when you return home by being sure your garbage disposal is cleared out. Add water down your shower drain before you leave. 

--  B.O.L.O. (Be On the Look Out):  Make sure someone is checking on your home when your away. Items using reverse osmosis can run the whole time your away if it were to break.

These tips will help you have one less thing to worry while you're away.
