The Senate Seats Most Likely to Flip in 2022
Democratic control of Congress will be on the line next year as Republicans look to claw their way back into power after a disappointing 2020 election that cost them the White House and their Senate majority.
But despite the conventional wisdom that the party of a new president tends to lose ground in the midterms, Senate Democrats are staring down several offensive opportunities in 2022 as they look to expand their ultra-narrow majority in the upper chamber.
Still, the GOP has pickup opportunities of its own, especially in states that Democrats only managed to win recently.
Here are the nine Senate seats most likely to flip in 2022:

Seven presidential contenders for the GOP in 2024
Former President Trump is still the dominant figure in the Republican Party, but his stranglehold is loosening.
Trump-backed candidates have had a mixed record in GOP primaries so far this cycle, with high-profile losses in Georgia, Nebraska and a key South Carolina district undercutting many other wins.
The work of the House select committee on Jan. 6, 2021, also places Trump’s role in the insurrection squarely in the spotlight.
To be sure, Trump leads early 2024 polls by a wide margin. But there is no guarantee that the ever-unpredictable Trump will enter the race. And there is a growing consensus among Republican insiders that, if he does, he will face a serious challenge. So, if the 2024 GOP nominee ends up being someone other than Trump, whom might it be?....

Inflation: All Fingers Point to Biden
Fracking never hurt anyone, but shutting it down set off inflation.
The current roaring inflation did not start with Comrade Putin’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine. It started with Comrade “Joe” Biden’s slamming down fracking and the big pipeline. That, by itself, turned America from a major oil producer and possibly the biggest oil state on Earth into an oil beggar with chronically short supplies. We were exporting oil and gas to Europe. Now we go with hat in hand to the likes of Iran for oil.
There never was any good reason to stop fracking. There was no evidence that it hurt the land or made an observable addition to worldwide air quality pollution.
Still, the college kids shrieked, and Biden listened, and now we have $7.35 a gallon gasoline at my local station. Biden did this, once again. Not Putin.
Now, we have real pain for most families. So, how do we usually fight inflation? We slow down the economy. We do that, in general, by slowing the growth of money, by raising interest rates, and by hobbling the ability of banks to lend.
The problem this time is immense, and there are immense dangers. We have a rapidly growing economy, with a serious shortage of workers. To slow an economy as robust as ours, we will have to slam on the monetary brakes in a huge way. Mr. Powell, the Chair of the Federal Reserve and its Federal Open Market Committee, promised to do that in a statement yesterday. He said his goal was to get inflation down from its current roughly 8.5 percent annual rate to 2 percent, while keeping unemployment at 2 percent.....

Artificial Intelligence and Chemical and Biological Weapons
Sometimes reality is a cold slap in the face. Consider, as a particularly salient example, a recently published article concerning the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the creation of chemical and biological weapons (the original publication, in Nature, is behind a paywall, but this link is a copy of the full paper). Anyone unfamiliar with recent innovations in the use of AI to model new drugs will be unpleasantly surprised.
Here’s the background: In the modern pharmaceutical industry, the discovery of new drugs is rapidly becoming easier through the use of artificial intelligence/machine learning systems. As the authors of the article describe their work, they have spent decades “building machine learning models for therapeutic and toxic targets to better assist in the design of new molecules for drug discovery.”
In other words, computer scientists can use AI systems to model what new beneficial drugs may look like for specifically targeted afflictions and then task the AI to work on discovering possible new drug molecules to use.
Those results are then given to the chemists and biologists who synthesize and test the proposed new drugs.
Given how AI systems work, the benefits in speed and accuracy are significant. As one study put it:.....

A Proposed Peace Plan to End the Russo-Ukrainian War by David Pyne
It has now been over one hundred days since Russia invaded Ukraine with no end to the war in sight. The war has the potential to drag on for months, if not years, and lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of more Ukrainians, as well as the destruction of more cities that will fuel a worsening humanitarian crisis. The United Nations Commission on Human Rights has confirmed that over 4,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed during Russia’s invasion while the Ukrainian government claims a death toll of over 27,500. The war has resulted in the greatest refugee crisis since the end of World War II. It is estimated that nearly five million Ukrainians have left the country while an additional eight million have been displaced within Ukraine. These are staggering numbers that equate to over one-third of Ukraine’s citizens being forced to leave their homes. Furthermore, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky recently declared that Russian forces now control 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory.
While Western media outlets continue to mistakenly report that Ukraine is winning the war, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has indicated that Russia is making incremental progress towards achieving its military objectives. According to a recent Western intelligence report, even though the United States is providing Ukraine with four to five times more military aid than Kyiv spends on its armed forces each year, Ukraine is losing the Battle of the Donbass and suffering “extreme losses” while being “outgunned 20 to 1 in artillery.” Ukrainian troops are running out of ammunition, increasingly demoralized, and beginning to desert. The report also revealed that most Ukrainian artillery is limited to a range of twenty-five kilometers while Russian artillery and rocket launchers can strike from twelve times that distance. It also stated that Ukraine’s bargaining position has been weakened since Russia has more than ten times the number of prisoners of war than Ukraine. The intelligence report concluded by stating: “It is plain that a conventional war cannot be won if your side has several times fewer weapons, your weapons hit the enemy at a shorter distance, and you have significantly less ammunition than the enemy.”....

If Trump Committed 'Insurrection,' Indict Him Already
Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on the Senate floor the first day of the televised Jan. 6 select committee hearings, said: "(Former President) Donald Trump was at the heart of a coordinated effort to overturn the 2020 elections, to overturn our constitutional order, and inflict permanent damage upon our democracy."
But Democratic committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., when asked about possible Justice Department charges against Trump, said: "Attorney General (Merrick) Garland is my constituent, and I don't browbeat my constituents. I think that he knows, his staff knows, the U.S. attorneys know what's at stake here. They know the importance of it. But I think they're rightfully paying close attention to precedent and history, as well as the facts of this case." Not exactly full speed ahead.....

The Common Denominator of Violence in America
“The foundation of national morality must be laid in private families. … In vain are schools, academies, and universities instituted, if loose principles and licentious habits are impressed upon children in their earliest years.” —John Adams (1778)
Rhetorical question: “Why is our culture suddenly producing so many young men who want to murder innocent people? Could things like fatherlessness, the breakdown of families, isolation from civil society, or the glorification of violence be contributing factors?” —Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)
In advance of Father’s Day each year, I am reminded, first and foremost, of the role I’m called to be by God the Father — a father....

The Senate Seats Most Likely To Flip in 2022
The 2022 United States Senate elections can best be thought of as the classic battle between the irresistible force and the immovable object. The irresistible force is the playing field. President Joe Biden’s job approval in the RCP Average is currently 39.7%, the lowest of his presidency. That’s about 3.5 points lower than Barack Obama’s job approval was on (midterm) Election Day 2010. President Obama’s job approval only dipped to 40% briefly, in the immediate aftermath of the botched Obamacare rollout, and it never dropped below 40%. President Donald Trump’s job approval spent much of 2017 below this mark, but in the terrible Republican election year of 2018, it never fell this low.
In other words, this is shaping up to be a worse environment than either of the last three midterms, all of which were nightmares for the party in power....

New Disney ride instantly transitions all riders to another gender
VISTA DEL MAR, CA—The Walt Disney Company has announced the opening of its newest ride in Disney Land: The Transgenderficator! The ride promises to deliver a mind, body and gender bending experience to children of all ages!
Disney spokesperson Dick Slicer was effusive as he announced the completion of the ride although he indicated final testing is required to guarantee the desired results. “We need to work out the final transition phase of the ride, since some participants have only partially experienced the wonderful, permanent, and devastating side effects.”
When asked for clarification Mr. Slicer indicated that “full transition requires a prescription from a doctor.” Questioned about whether this could affect ridership he replied “No, because we have renowned doctor Rothchild Groomer to write prescriptions for everyone in line!”
When pressed if the ride will also appear at Disney World, Slicer opined “Never happen, people in Florida are too normal. We need Cali weirdos to make this ride work!”
Although this is one of the newer rides at Disney Land, another spokesperson, Xes Lana whose preferred pronouns are Bla, Bla and Bla, indicated the following rides are in development phases:
1. Transanimator – turn yourself into the jackass you always wanted to be!
2. Transpoliticator – turn any Republican or Independent into a Jackass Democrat!....

Car Considered Totaled After Running Out Of Gas
Riverside, CA – After a small, gas pump-shaped light appeared on his dashboard, a California man knew his car had been totaled.
“No, no, no, no, NO, NO, NO! Seriously?!” long-time Democrat voter, Doug Perry yelled as he rolled to a stop. “$14,000–down the drain! My TV never told me gas would be more expensive under Joe Biden!”
Under Democrat leadership, refueling Doug’s 2014 Kia Optima would cost $14,032. Auto insurance companies claim that’s more than the worth of the vehicle, so Doug will be walking.
“This whole gas situation is abusive. Frankly, it’s inappropriate. Now what? I’m forced to walk to the youth drag queen show at Chuck E. Cheese tonight?” Doug moaned......

Explorers Discover Remote Island Untouched By Pride Month
PACIFIC OCEAN—In what experts are calling a statistical impossibility, intrepid explorers have announced the discovery of a remote island in a secluded corner of the Pacific Ocean that has been untouched by Pride Month.
This inconceivable discovery comes at a time when every infinitesimal piece of modern life has been enriched with joyous, inclusive messages urging everyone to celebrate Pride Month or else be destroyed.
"It was truly shocking to enter the island village lacking the requisite Pride parades and rainbow banners," wrote head explorer, Captain Bob Magellan (he/him), in his vellum-lined explorer's diary. "These natives seem bizarrely content and happy, despite a complete absence of the neverending deluge of LGBTQ awareness campaigns. Utterly fascinating."

Biden executive order punishes parents who don’t chop off the arms of kids who identify as T-Rex
WASHINGTON, DC–President* Joe Biden signed legislation yesterday that criminalizes parents who don’t chop off the arms of their children who identify as a T-Rex and replace them with little lizard appendages.
Biden took the brave stance against anti-trans-species bigotry prevalent in the country.
“If a child of three years old thinks they’re a Tyrannosaurus Rex, then by golly, they’re a Tyrannosaurus Rex,” Biden whispered in a press conference announcing the order.
The move fulfills a promise that then-candidate Biden made on the campaign trail:...

Chickens Hold Controversial 'Fox Story Hour' In Chicken Coop
FARMINGTON, MO—Progressive chickens at Stoodland Farms held a "Fox Storytime Hour" Friday, which some of the older hens considered controversial. During the event, various foxes were invited into the coop to read a story to the young chicks.
A number of hens were reportedly offended by the fox volunteers. "I can't believe what they're teaching our young-uns," said Pecky LeCorn. "I know there are foxes in the world, but to actually invite them into our coop to read to defensless chicks, it's uncheepable!"
Protests aside, LeCorn left her chicks in the care of the fox because she had a feathering appointment and babysitters were so hard to find. She reportedly took ....
