The freeze on the filing of applications for new LPTV/translator digital stations and major changes remains in effect! 


Coalition Commentary
It is time to buckle up and get those new filings and fees ready to be submitted.  We estimate 2500+ applications to quickly be filed, and it is "first to file" this time around, so good luck with that.  And any and all may file for whatever they are eligible for.  Go For It!  And good luck with those getting those new channels!  Full Employment For Consulting Engineers and Comm Counsel!

THE SATELLITE TELEVISION EXTENSION & LOCALISM ACT REAUTHORIZATION  EXPIRES THE END OF THIS YEAR AND IT COULD END THE ORIGINAL 1983 MISSION THE FCC GAVE TO LPTV  TO BE A "SATELLATOR" TO GET DISTANT NETWORKS IN YOUR TOWN FOR ALTERNATIVE NEWS AND ENTERTAINMENT

BUT NAB AND ITS MEMBERS ARE THREATENED BY HOW THE STELAR REAUTHORIZATION HAS EVOLVED OVER TIME

Whatever NAB wants, NAB gets, so good luck.  LPTV gets nothing from whether STELAR stays or gets eliminated, not our sandbox except in a few markets and situations.  All I know is that the broadcast TV market is not based on free market principles. Then again, LPTV does not have any 1.0 simulcast obligations.  Pick the reality you which to dwell in.
