Indian Hills Updates

Mrs. LaBarbiera’s Careers Class went to visit Bergen County Community College on March 2, 2023. The students learned about academic, vocational & social opportunities at the college.

IH Academic Decathlon

Please congratulate the Indian Hills Academic Decathlon team for their performance and hard work this season! Indian Hills placed 4th at this year’s State Finals. 


Competing on our Regular Team and winning Third Place in the Super Quiz event were Cece Dadarwala, our team captain, Alexandra Mazur, our assistant captain, Kylee Kublin, Catherine Carpenter, Thomas Wuensch, Sabrina Adams, Ethan Bar-Nadav, and Andrew Jabaly.


Competing as Alternates were Christine Peng, Raina Saini, Deana Syrneva, Emma Graffanino, James Sabino, Aayush Parekh, and Ian Wuensch. 


For the Honors Division:

  • Cece Dadarwala, our MVP, won a gold model for the interview event.
  • Alexandra Mazur won gold medals in essay and literature, silver medals in social science and music, and bronze medals in art and economics. Alex was the highest scoring student on our team in the Honors Division. 
  • Kylee Kublin won a silver medal in essay.


For the Scholastic Division:

  • Catherine Carpenter won a gold medal in speech and a silver medal for interview. 
  • Sabrina Adams won an honorable mention in literature. 
  • Thomas Wuensch was the highest scoring student on our team in the Scholastic Division.


For the Varsity Division:

  • Ethan Bar-Nadav won silver medals in speech and music, and honorable mentions in art, math, and interview. Ethan was the highest scoring student on our team in the Varsity Division.
  • Andrew Jabaly won a silver medal in science and a bronze medal for interview. 


For Alternates in the Honors Division: 

  • Christine Peng won gold medals in music and social science, and an honorable mention in art.
  • Raina Saini won a silver medal in social science. 
  • Deana Syrneva won an honorable mention in art. 


For Alternates in the Scholastic Division: 

  • Ian Wuensch won bronze medals in economics and science, and an honorable mention in music. 


Mr. Murphy and Mr. Paravati would like to give a special thanks to Partha Panwala, Babita Panwala, and Marilyn Murphy for volunteering at the competition! 


Bowling State Sectional Champs

For the 1st time in school history, the Lady Braves are State Sectional Champs! Led by big games from Allison Babino (201), Daria Carlson (214) and Senior Captain Natalie Christopher (221), the team took home the North 1 Group 1 Title.

Glow Yoga

The Indian Hills High School Guidance Department, the SWell Club, and the Indian Hills Girls Lacrosse Team all teamed up to offer Glow Yoga for interested students on Tuesday March 7th in the Upper Gym. Thank you to the PTSO for their support of the event and to Mrs. Pernetti, parent of Natalie ‘25, who served as a parent volunteer  for the event. 

Ramapo Update

The RHS Guidance Department hosted  a Career and Technical Education Fair in the Media Center classroom on Wednesday, March 7th. The organizations who participated included:

Thank you to Spring Lake Day Camp for participating in the RHS Work It, Wednesday student employment table on March 1st.  

Ramapo Athletic Update

Congratulations! Ramapo Junior Soccer Player, Carolina Mosquera, was selected to represent New Jersey on the 2023 National Athletic Advisory Council. Carolina is a member of this year's Group 3 State Championship Team.

Congratulations to the Ramapo High School Boys Basketball Team for capturing the 2023 NJSIAA Group 3 State Championship!  This is the first Group Title for the program as they finished with an astounding 30-3 record!  Go PO!

RIH DECA

We are very pleased and extremely proud to report that 28 students from Ramapo Indian Hills DECA medaled in the final rounds of their competitive events at the 2023 NJ DECA State Career Development Conference.  

 

Special thank you to  Angela Funk, Owen Ross, Michelle Patrickio, Meghan Weiss and Edith LaChac for chaperoning and volunteering as competitive event judges for this conference.  Our students' success would not be possible without their support.

Additionally, we would like to recognize Indian Hills student Ryan LaDuca, NJ DECA’s outgoing VP of Media, for preparing and presenting a successful conference! 


Please congratulate Indian Hills junior Krishan Patel who was elected NJ DECA’s next Northern Region Vice President and Ramapo sophomore Simrin Anand who was elected NJ DECA’s next Recording Secretary. Along with five other students from the state, Krishan and Simrin will represent and serve all 10,000 members of the NJ DECA organization in the upcoming year.
