Indian Hills Post Season Wrap Up

This year’s recipient of the 2023 National Women and Girls in Sports Award for Indian Hills High School is Kelly Cronin! Kelly exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete. Her hard work on the court is only overshadowed by the work she does in the classroom! Kelly’s award provided her (4) tickets to the Seton Hall Women’s Basketball game on February 18th, but that event was postponed at the last minute. Instead, she will receive (4) tickets to a Seton Hall Women’s Basketball game of her choice next season. Excellent job Kelly and keep up the great work!

Indian Hills Boys Fencing Coach, Ed Cleaver, was named the Bergen County Coaches Association 2023 Boys Fencing Coach of the Year! Coach Cleaver puts in countless hours with our fencing team and is always willing to help out and promote the sport of fencing! He is truly a valued asset at Indian Hills and nobody is more deserving of this recognition! Way to go Coach!

A huge congratulations to the Boys Basketball Team on their postseason run! The Boys hosted a home state game for the first time in 11 years and beat Lakeland and Westwood to advance to the NJSIAA State Sectional Semifinals! The stands were packed for the home games and the support from the FLOW communities was outstanding! The future is bright in Oakland!

The Boys and Girls Bowling Teams represented Indian Hills well at the NJSIAA Group Finals in New Brunswick! For the Girls team, Natalie Christopher was named 1st Team All County and 1st Team All League for the second year in a row, while Allison Babino and Daria Carlson were 2nd Team All County and 1st Team All League. Zoe Paxos was named Honorable Mention All League. For the Boys team, Jake Willis was named 1st Team All County and 1st Team All League. Evan Reid was Honorable Mention All County and 2nd Team All League. Ryan Clemente was 1st Team All League, while Josh Fishman and Joe Brugna were 2nd Team All League. Justin Becker was Honorable Mention All League. These teams plan to vie for titles for many years to come!

Brady Dransfield won his opening match in the 144 lb weight class at the NJSIAA Region 1 Wrestling Tournament last Friday night. He made it to Saturday and was ousted during the wrestleback stage. Brady is only a sophomore, so there is plenty of optimism towards his future on the mat! Way to go Brady!

The Indian Hills Boys Indoor Track Team qualified for the Bergen County Meet of Champions on Sunday, March 5th, and finished in FIRST PLACE at the Eastern State Championships on Tuesday night at the NYC Armory! Besides State qualifiers, the Boys and Girls Teams also have a number of National qualifiers and athletes that have spent the season setting PR after PR. Indian Hills Track and Field is growing and the success they have been experiencing is a result of all the hard work they put in every day! Way to Go Braves!!

The Winter was an excellent season that saw plenty of success for teams from Indian Hills! We are looking forward to the Spring season now and hoping to have just as much success, and then some! Go Braves!!
