Upcoming Assessment Information

On Wednesday, October 12 the freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes will participate in the PSAT assessment, while the seniors will follow programming designed by each school.

The PSAT stands for Preliminary SAT and is a standardized assessment that provides first hand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test. The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. We administer this exam in order for students to receive feedback about their academic strengths and weaknesses, enter the competition for National Merit Scholar scholarships and help prepare for the SAT.

Students do NOT need to register for the PSAT and the district covers the cost of the assessment. Students must be in their assigned testing classroom at 7:35AM on the day of testing. We will inform them of their room assignment prior to the assessment date. After the assessment is complete students will have an early dismissal from school.

Students can familiarize themselves with the assessment directions and questions using the following guides:

Indian Hills Class of 2023 Senior Sunrise

The members of the Indian Hills High School Class of 2023 gathered to watch the sunrise on their senior year. It was a great event filled with Braves Spirit, bagels, juice, and warm delicious WAFFLES!

Many thanks to the combined efforts of the Senior Class Advisors and the PTSO for organizing such a wonderful event for our Seniors.

Connecting Art and Science

Ms. Batti’s AP Art and Design class has welcomed a number of guest speakers these past two weeks. Our speakers have shared insights into designing inquiry questions and strategies for investigation.

  • John Mungiello gave a presentation about the "what", the "how", and the "why" of questions and the importance of each and shared past portfolio samples.
  • Tim Walkowich presented on Inquiry Guided Design from a teacher's perspective, a scientist's perspective and an engineer's perspective.
  • Angela Manzi presented on Leonardo DaVinci (scientist and artist) and the wonder of questioning. Angela's lesson ended with an inquiry-based experiment with bubbles. Students generated questions, built tools, and played with liquid bubble solutions, food coloring, and pipe cleaners in this fun, outdoor activity.

Activities and Service Fair

On Thursday, October 6th the IHHS Guidance Department, Activities Director, and Interact Club hosted the Indian Hills Activities and Service Fair to showcase all of our activities and service opportunities in both the school and the FLOW community. The fair was available to all students during their lunch period and included representatives from the FLOW community. Among the many organizations present were local first responders and other local organizations that provide service opportunities for our students. In addition, Indian Hills Students represented many of the activities and clubs that exist in our school and were available to answer questions and to encourage everyone to get involved.

Many thanks to everyone who participated and to Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Duncan, and Mrs. Funk for all of their efforts to organize this wonderful event!
