Exchanging Thoughts

“Without strategy, execution is aimless.

Without execution, strategy is useless.” Morris Chang

September 18, 2022

Good morning Ramapo Indian Hills!

I hope the start to the school year has been positive and invigorating for all of you. Teaching and learning, athletics, clubs and activities, and back to school nights are in full swing. The air is a little more crisp at night and Fall is right around the corner.

Our commitment to developing our new Strategic Plan continues this year and your feedback will help us identify our priorities and frame the direction for our schools.

In order for us to be able to help our team build upon the incredible success of our schools, we want to hear from all of our parents and provide you with a forum to share your perspective. At this time, we want to hear from you on the following question:

What do you consider to be the highest priority area

for the district to grow in the next strategic plan?

Click here for: RIH Parent Thought Exchange

For those of you who are new to Ramapo Indian Hills, we use a software technology platform called Thought Exchange. The purpose of Thought Exchange is to leverage the technology so people can share their perspectives which will enable us to build our strategy and plan for the future.

Please select the link below or visit https://tinyurl.com/ParentThoughts-Sept2022 so you can participate in this Thought Exchange and share your feedback.

Thank you for your partnership and we look forward to hearing your insight. Together, we will continue to ensure Ramapo Indian Hills is a great place to learn, a great place to work, and a great place to live.

All my best,

Dr. Rui Dionisio

Superintendent of Schools

Living the High Life

Ms. Stephen’s High Ropes Classes Navigate and Complete the Raider Tower - Wall Climb! Great team effort by both belay teams and as climbers Maddie Kellogg and Mackenzie Morante make it safely to the finishing platform high above Raiderland!

Phones for Physics

Ramapo physics students use their phones to time the motion of an object during the autumn tradition of Hallway Bowling. Laptops, phones, and instrumentation provide tools for students to make sense of how and why things move throughout their physics studies.  Our students and teachers use a variety of available resources to make learning fun and meaningful.

Up, Up & Away

Ms. Wiese's Aviation class at Ramapo is using balloons as propulsion in hopes of getting as much cargo (paperclips) to the international space station (classroom ceiling) as possible!  Students have been introduced to the practices successful engineers use to solve problems and are implementing what they have learned.

Junior Chef Competition

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Kusma and the team of students who represented IHHS this past spring in the “Junior Chef Competition” hosted by Bergen County Community College.  The students were recently presented with their awards, courtesy of BCCC and local supporters of the “Junior Chef Competition.”  This was a valuable learning experience, with various levels of competition, for our students.  We are ready to compete again should the opportunity arise in the future.

Indian Hills Class of '23 Senior Picture

On Monday, September 12, 2022 the senior class gathered in the home bleachers of Hank Boggio Field to take their class picture for the yearbook. This annual tradition helps to kick off a long list of milestones to celebrate the students in our Class of 2023. We look forward to celebrating many more great experiences with our Senior Braves!

Indian Hills Science Classes and Interact Club

Working Together

Collaboration between our UPSMR Research and Horticulture classes along with support from the IHHS Interact Club resulted in a prosperous give and grow garden this year.  The garden crops continue to be harvested and donated to a local food pantry to support those in need.  Special thanks to Ms. Funk & the IH Grounds Crew for assisting our students with the harvests and weed control over the summer months.
