For those in ministry, sitting on an airplane can be an occupational hazard. I often avert my eyes and deploy earphones when traveling, partly to avoid the dreaded question from my seatmate, "So what do you do for a living?" When I've been brave enough to answer honestly, I'm often regaled with stories of conversion, or why someone will "NEVER SET FOOT IN CHURCH AGAIN!"
So, it's with some trepidation that I engage this week's scripture passage about Paul's conversion. In fact, I haven't studied it for many years. And yet, this time, I've made some fresh discoveries and actually find the whole story quite hopeful. I encourage you to read it in its entirety by
. It's quite a story.
In addition to exploring this passage, we'll commission many mission teams who will be serving here in Charlotte as well as across the globe. You can
find the teams listed here
. We'll celebrate a baptism, and, as usual, enjoy beautiful music.
If you, a family member, or a friend are a tad reluctant - and perhaps even suspicious -- about this whole "conversion/born again/I saw the light" dimension of faith, this will be a great Sunday to attend.
Come, and bring a friend.
