Social Media and Youth Mental Health

The US Surgeon General recently released an advisory on social media and youth mental health. The advisory notes that while almost all of those ages 13-17 use social media and it does provide some benefits to children and adolescents, it also presents a meaningful risk to them as well.

Learning Heroes launched the Helping Crack the Code Playbook this month, designed to help communicate with parents about how to support their child when they suspect or learn that their child has a learning difference. The Playbook can also inform the design of equitable programs and policies that make high-quality supports more accessible.

Kids don’t have to be hyperactive to have ADHD. Some children have what’s known as the inattentive subtype of ADHD, which looks like being distracted, forgetful, and disorganized. Their symptoms are often overlooked because they don’t fit the stereotype of a kid who acts out and can’t stay still.
