The Guam Legislature is scheduled for a Legislative Session on Monday, January 22nd, 9:00 a.m. On the agenda are bills on the second reading file which allows for further amendment or vote to progress to the third reading file. If these bills are important to you, reach out to the senators to let them know of your thoughts and concerns which will influence how they act on the bills. View the Session's Full Agenda here.

Bill No. 142-37: Relative to Net Metering

Bill No. 165-37: Establishes the Guam Solid Waste Authority Islandwide Collection Plan

Bill No. 184-37: Authorizes the Guam Ancestral Lands Commission to sell or lease lots in the municipality of Barrigada to the Government of Guam at fair market value for use as the site for a new medical complex.

Bill No 185-37: Requires that any new hospital constructed pursuant to the Guam Twenty-first Century Healthcare Center Act to be constructed in the municipality of Tamuning.

Galito Elected 2024 Chairman of the Guam Chamber of Commerce | |
Your Guam Chamber of Commerce announced on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, that the Board of Directors elected its slate of officers for the 2024 Administrative Year.
Ernie Galito, Business Development Director, of Atkins Kroll, Inc. was elected Chairman of the Board. Tae Oh, Vice President, of Vantage Advertising, was elected Vice Chairman; and, Juan Carlos Benitez, President, of Washington Pacific Economic Development Group, Inc., was elected Secretary-Treasurer.
The 2024 Executive Committee of the Guam Chamber of Commerce will additionally be comprised of Immediate Past Chairman, Edward Untalan, Executive Vice President /Guam CNMI Region Manager, First Hawaiian Bank, Special Executive Committee Member, Phillip Santos, Account Executive, Matson Navigation Company, and Guam Chamber of Commerce President Catherine Castro effective January 17, 2024.

Guam Chamber Business Hall of Fame Nomination Now Being Accepted
The Guam Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for 2024 Guam Business Hall of Fame Laureate -- a prestigious recognition that pays tribute to outstanding companies and business leaders who have made exceptional contributions to business growth in Guam.
There are two categories for the Laureate award: 1) Individual; and, 2) Company. Any individual or for-profit enterprise licensed to do business in Guam is eligible for the award based on key criteria. Download the Fact Sheet for details. The deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Local Businesses Encouraged to
Apply for LEAP ll
Deadline to submit form: Tuesday, February 8, 2024
On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, local businesses can apply for the Local Employers Assistance Program (LEAP) Supplemental Grant ll. LEAP ll was established by Governor Lou Leon Guerrero though Executive Order No. 2023-15 to provide a final round of direct financial assistance to local small businesses that experienced significant levels of pandemic-related business interruption in calendar year 2022. 2023-15 allocates $5 million in addition to Public Law 37-15, which allocated up to $15 million in local funds to LEAP ll. Program information and applicant guidance are available on Invest Guam's website.
Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) will continue accepting LEAP ll applications through Tuesday, February 8, 2024.
