The legislature has introduced two separate bills which will basically do the same thing: make permanent the new exemptions related to the Dave J. Santos Small Business Act. These bills are: Bill No. 72-36 and Bill No. 74-36.

Shelton, Telena Cruz Nelson, Tina Rose Muña Barnes,Mary Camacho Torres and Joanne Brown - AN ACT TO ADD NEW §§ 5013 AND 5012 TO PART A OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 5, TITLE 5, GUAM CODE ANNOTATED, RELATIVE TO ADOPTING A PROCUREMENT POLICY IN FAVOR OF WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSES, AND TO CITE THIS ACT AS “THE SUPPORT FOR WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES ACT.”

Bill No. 69-36 (COR) – Committee on Air Transportation, Parks, Tourism, HigherEducation, and the Advancement of Women, Youth and Senior Citizens by request of I Kongressun Manhoben Guåhan, the Guam Youth Congress, in accordance with 2 GCA § 7102 - AN ACT TO ADD A NEW CHAPTER 54C TO DIVISION 2 OF TITLE 10, GUAM CODE ANNOTATED, RELATIVE TO PROHIBITING THE SALE OF POLYSTYRENE FOAM CONTAINERS AND SERVING OF PREPARED FOODS USING POLYSTYRENE FOAM CONTAINERS.

CONGRESSMAN SAN NICOLAS ANNOUNCES OPENING OF SHUTTERED VENUE OPERATORS GRANT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT LOCAL JOBS

Congressman San Nicolas announces that more help is here through the American Rescue Plan for local businesses and jobs, as the Small Business Administration’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program will begin accepting applications on Thursday, April 8th, 2021. The program includes a total of over $16 billion in grants for shuttered venues. 

“The opening of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grants program is another pivotal step toward crushing this virus, getting people back in jobs and revitalizing our economy," said Congressman San Nicolas. "These grants will help our local shuttered venue operators put paychecks back in workers’ pockets, avoid permanent closures, cover rent payments and more," Congressman San Nicolas added.

Who Can Apply:
Live venue operators or promoters, Theatrical producers, Live performing arts organization operators, Relevant museum operators, zoos and aquariums, Motion picture theater operators, Talent representatives, Each business entity owned by an eligible entity that also meets the eligibility requirements.

Applicants must have been in operation as of February 29, 2020. A venue or promoter who received a PPP loan on or after December 27, 2020, will have the SVOG reduced by the PPP loan amount. 

Venue operates can use their grants for:
Payroll costs
Rent payments
Utility payments
Worker protection expenditures, and More

The Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation Releases Volume 11 of its COVID-19 Services Series Limited Walk-In Services from 8 am to 5 pm to Begin; Appointments to Continue as Scheduled
Barrigada, GU – The Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation (DRT) releases its eleventh set of guidance for its DRT COVID-19 Services Series to update previously issued volumes in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order No. 2021-07 to extending the public health emergency declaration for an additional thirty (30) day period to May 1, 2021, and orders such that Guam continues to be in Pandemic Condition of Readiness (PCOR) 3.
