Boylston - Hand Stitched Snowscape (Ages 7-16) Sat, Feb 6, 10:30a - 12p. Learn basic stitches to create an embroidered winter scene. Join us at Tower Hill for hands-on instruction and get introduced to embroidery basics. Learn the running stitch, back stitch, satin stitch and more as you create a unique wintry scene complete with snowflakes and trees. Each child will stitch their design in a 6" embroidery hoop and will take home additional supplies to continue their work.
Admission is included with the class price for non-members.

Hingham - Reindeer Quest Sat & Sun, through Feb 28. Grab your hiking boots, snowshoes or cross-country skis and get the family outside for this special South Shore Reindeer Quest! This self-guided scavenger hunt encourages visitors to scour the trails for herds of handmade, wooden reindeer at World’s EndWhitney & Thayer Woods and Weir River Farm in Hingham, the Norris Reservation in Norwell, and Two-Mile Farm in Marshfield. Reindeer are crafted by Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops, and hidden along the trails. Each one has a special personality, which visitors can discover by scanning a QR code.

It is targeted to the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. Taught by professional instructors with significant patient care and backcountry experience. The course content meets the anticipated medical needs of those communities. Course topics will be specific to the group, the environment, and the context of operations or the activities performed in the field. Milton - Adult Owl Prowl & Night Hike Fri, Feb 5, 7 - 9p. Nighttime can transform the ordinary into something magical! Join Trailside's Naturalist Kathleen Regan on a small group night hike into the Blue Hills Reservation. This program will begin outdoors at the museum where you will discover some of the unique adaptations of owls, practice owl calls, and meet some of the museum's resident owls. This is followed by an evening exploration search for owls & other nocturnal life.

Milton - Family Animal Tracking Adventure Sat, Feb 6, 10a - 12p. Have you ever wondered how animals survive in winter? Become a 'Nature Detective' and learn about “stories in the snow” and many other signs that wildlife leave behind as clues to how and where they travel to find food and shelter. Join Trailside's Teacher Naturalist Kathleen Regan for a semi-private (only 2-3 families) outdoor family exploration atop Chickatawbut Hill at the Norman Smith Environmental Education Center. This program includes an examination of animal biofacts and up-close animal encounter with one of our resident animals! All participants will be required to wear a face mask and abide by social distancing guidelines. Please wear sturdy boots and weather appropriate clothing. An email with directions to Chickatawbut Hill and Covid 19 safety protocols will be sent prior to the program.
