El Club de Español has their second meeting coming up on Thursday, January 10th ! And it is not too late to join!
 
Come for one hour once a month on Thursdays after school for fun, food, culture, music, and more. We will be meeting January 10th, February 14th, March 14th, and April 11th . Come to as many meetings as your schedule allows! We need parent volunteers and middle school student volunteers to help during meetings. Please consider helping. Any parents that are available to help at a meeting or to plan meeting activities please let your Spanish teacher know. Gracias.

Middle School Open House
Thurs, Jan 17th at 7pm  
All 5th grade families are invited to join us to learn about our exceptional middle school program! This evening will introduce you to our outstanding faculty, excellent academic curriculum, our one-to-one laptop program, 8th grade confirmation and the many special experiences our middle school students enjoy each year. CSW Cub Scout Pancake Breakfast 
Sunday, January 27th, 8:15-1pm
Please join us on Sunday, January 27th for the annual OLG Pack 102 Cub Scout pancake breakfast fundraiser to celebrate the start of Catholic Schools Week. The breakfast will be held in Cassidy Hall from 8:15am until 1pm. Pre-sale tickets are available for $6 after Masses beginning January 12th or can be purchased the day of the event. There will be plenty of delicious pancakes, great coffee, orange juice and butcher cut bacon. This community event is critical for the Pack and last year's breakfast was a huge success - we hope you will join us!

Snowbusters!

SNOWBUSTERS is an after school skiing and snowboarding opportunity available at Hyland Hills Ski Area to our OLG students in Grades 3-8 who are able to independently manage their ski equipment & snow gear. Students have the option to rent equipment and take lessons or just go out & ski or board with their friends.  
 
The program runs after school on Monday & Wednesday: Jan 14th, Jan 16th, Jan 28th, Jan 30th, Feb 4th, Feb 6th, Feb 11th, Feb 13th. Parents are encouraged to volunteer.  We are most in need of Equipment Transportation Volunteers, Rental Room Volunteers, and Chalet Table Volunteers.

PSO Shopping Events Update!

The next PSO shopping event is new this year based on parental requests. It is at the Bluebird Boutique on 50th & France on Wednesday January 9th 6-8pm for the social event including wine and appetizers. However, you can shop all day long and mention OLG for your sale to count. 20% of sales go back to OLG!

Moms of Grace
January 9th at 10am - Holy Yoga 
Please join our monthly Moms of Grace meeting on Wednesday, January 9th at 10am in the Dining Room. This month's meeting will focus on self care. Brooke Toftoy will lead us in 30 minutes of Holy Yoga, followed by small group discussions. Please wear clothing in which you will be comfortable practicing yoga and bring a yoga mat or towel. Nursery care will be provided.

Extreme Faith Camp is a week-long camp for students currently in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. It is a life-changing experience. We spend the week with teens from 8 other Catholic parishes throughout the Archdiocese and have a blast with a variety of fun activities and we encounter Christ through the power of the Sacraments, challenging talks, and small group sharing. Following dessert, you will also enjoy an inspiring talk by Jim and Maureen Otremba, married 23 years.

You will love "The Temperament God Gave You" small group!
Moms - Make time to learn about a topic that will benefit you in your role as a wife and mother! What is a temperament and how does it affect every relationship in your life?  Join a Mothers of Young Children (birth through 5th grade) group as we seek to understand the gifts God has given in each person's temperament and use this knowledge to unlock motivation, real communication and conflict resolution with our kids, spouses and coworkers. Let us know if you are interested in joining the Temperament God Gave You group that is starting this January at OLG!  Groups will be meeting 8 sessions, every other Tuesday, January - May . The morning group will meet 9:30-11:00 am and the evening group will meet from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the Frassati Room. Childcare available. Men's Club Gala Tickets Go on Sale January 11th!
This year's Gala is February 9th at the newly renovated Interlachen Country Club. Ticket sales are online and begin the morning of January 11th - watch for the email. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly given space constraints at Interlachen so don't delay. Thank you in advance for your support and hope to see you there!

$20 Split the Pot raffle tickets are available in the OLG Parish Office and at Masses this weekend. Half the pot will go to the winner and half to the Men's Club Gala proceeds.

Holy Angels Admissions Events  
Thursday, January 10 - Open House:  This is our final Open House of the school year. Your families can join us at 6:00 PM for academic presentations and a tour of the school. Parents can RSVP on the school website.  

Saturday, January 12 - Grade School Night for our Basketball teams: Boys Basketball plays at 5:00 PM with the Girls following at 7:00 PM. We will be doing raffles during both halftimes.  

Saturday, January 19 - First Round Application Deadline and Placement Test: All completed applications received by this date are eligible for our St. Joseph Academic Scholarship.   
PCN Speaker: Managing Stress

Parent Communication Network is excited to announce its third speaker of the 2018/19 school year at the Edina Performing Arts Center: Kevin Harrington, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience in mind-body medicine. Dr. Harrington will be presenting on the following topic: Managing Stress: Mindfulness Skills for Families. In this workshop, he will discuss building a resilient family, strengthening family relationships, developing skills to manage daily stress, developing healthy routines, and much more.   
Young Rembrandts
Beautiful Drawings Class: 1/15-2/26 
Make this a memorable winter by signing up your elementary child in a Young Rembrandts drawing class. Your child will learn about basic design and composition as they draw the Fish Below Ice and Great Wall of China. If your child is fond of sports, they will enjoy drawing our illustration featuring a Hockey Player. Besides strengthening your child's drawing and coloring skills, he or she will also learn about art history as we present lessons featuring master artists Leonardo Da Vinci and Franz Marc.
