Middle School Open House

All 5th grade parents are invited to join us to learn about our exceptional middle school program! This evening will introduce you to our outstanding faculty, excellent academic curriculum, our one-to-one laptop program, 8th grade confirmation and the many special experiences our middle school students enjoy each year. CSW Cub Scout Pancake Breakfast 
Sunday, January 27th, 8:15-1pm
Please join us on Sunday, January 27th for the annual OLG Pack 102 Cub Scout pancake breakfast fundraiser to celebrate the start of Catholic Schools Week. The breakfast will be held in Cassidy Hall from 8:15am until 1pm. Pre-sale tickets are available for $6 after Masses beginning January 12th or can be purchased the day of the event. There will be plenty of delicious pancakes, great coffee, orange juice and butcher cut bacon. This community event is critical for the Pack and last year's breakfast was a huge success - we hope you will join us!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
2019-2020 Registration Process 
Similar to last year , for the 2019-20 school year, OLG School will be using a continuous enrollment model. This means that current K-7 students will be automatically enrolled for the upcoming school year unless a family contacts us by February 1st, 2019 . This model is recommended both by the Archdiocese and national Catholic school organizations. If you have a K-7 child who will not be returning for the 2019-20 school year, please contact Mrs. Trenary by phone at 952.929.5463 ext 4. 
Apply for Financial Aid 
Applications Due by February 17
Families are now able to apply for Financial Aid for the 2019-20 school year. OLG uses the TADS company to process financial aid applications. Here are instructions on how to apply. Here is a worksheet to help with preparing your application.
2019-20 OLG Academic Calendar 
HERE is the 2019-20 OLG Calendar at a glance. Some items to note:
-School start is before Labor Day.
-October 16th is a full release day (different than Edina).  
-Christmas vacation is two weeks.
-Last day for all grades is May 29th.
Snowbusters Starts This Week!  
If your child signed up, please complete these items if you have not done so already:
  1. Complete the Hyland Hills required waiver form and Email the signed waiver to [email protected] and [email protected]. Also have your child bring the printed form as they Check-In at Cassidy Hall on Monday/Wednesday after school next week. Hyland Hills REQUIRES each skier to complete and turn in the paper version of their Liability Waiver!
  2. Complete the Equipment Rental Form if you indicated during registration that your child needs equipment.
  3. Volunteer for an unfilled slot to help the kids have a great Snowbusters experience.

Young Rembrandts
Beautiful Drawings Class: 1/15-2/26 
Make this a memorable winter by signing up your elementary child in a Young Rembrandts drawing class. Your child will learn about basic design and composition as they draw the Fish Below Ice and Great Wall of China. If your child is fond of sports, they will enjoy drawing our illustration featuring a Hockey Player. Besides strengthening your child's drawing and coloring skills, he or she will also learn about art history as we present lessons featuring master artists Leonardo Da Vinci and Franz Marc. Health Office Reminders
When should my child stay home?
In general, the following information is intended to help decide when a student should stay home: 
  *If a student has had a fever of 100 degrees or more, the student should stay home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal without fever reducing medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
  *If a student has vomited or had diarrhea, the student should stay home until 24 hours after the last episode.
  *If a student has had any rash that may be disease-related or the cause is unknown, check with your health care provider before sending the student to school.
   *If a student is ill, please call the attendance line daily to report the illness. 952-929-5463 #9087
 
  *When your child is sick, please pick them up as soon as possible and within 1 hour.
  *It is best if parents have identification on your voicemail so that a message can be left.

Moms of Grace Service Project 
February 3rd at 10:30am 
Have you wanted to participate in a meaningful service project with your family? A way to get together in a significant way with other families? Then please come to the Moms of Grace service project on Feb 3, around 10:30, after the 9:30 mass in Cassidy Hall.  We will be organizing care packages to a local women's shelter for women and their children.  Have your little ones write or decorate a card too!  Refreshments will be provided.

Extreme Faith Camp is a week-long camp for students currently in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. It is a life-changing experience. We spend the week with teens from 8 other Catholic parishes throughout the Archdiocese and have a blast with a variety of fun activities and we encounter Christ through the power of the Sacraments, challenging talks, and small group sharing. You will love "The Temperament God Gave You" small group!
Moms - Make time to learn about a topic that will benefit you in your role as a wife and mother! What is a temperament and how does it affect every relationship in your life?  Join a Mothers of Young Children (birth through 5th grade) group as we seek to understand the gifts God has given in each person's temperament and use this knowledge to unlock motivation, real communication and conflict resolution with our kids, spouses and coworkers. Let us know if you are interested in joining the Temperament God Gave You group that is starting this January at OLG!  Groups will be meeting 8 sessions, every other Tuesday, January - May . The morning group will meet 9:30-11:00 am and the evening group will meet from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the Frassati Room. Childcare available. Get Your Men's Club Split the Pot Raffle!
$20 Split the Pot raffle tickets are available in the OLG Parish Office and at Masses this weekend. Half the pot will go to the winner and half to the Men's Club Gala proceeds.

Aim Higher Scholarships  
Families Can Apply Until February 17th
The Aim Higher Foundation provides two scholarships for students to attend a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The application period for scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year closes February 17, 2019. We aim to award the scholarships and notify families and schools by March 13, 2019. PCN Speaker: Managing Stress
Monday, Jan 14th, 7-9pm (Free)
Parent Communication Network is excited to announce its third speaker of the 2018/19 school year at the Edina Performing Arts Center: Kevin Harrington, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience in mind-body medicine. Dr. Harrington will be presenting on the following topic: Managing Stress: Mindfulness Skills for Families. In this workshop, he will discuss building a resilient family, strengthening family relationships, developing skills to manage daily stress, developing healthy routines, and much more.   
Holy Angels Admissions Events  
Saturday, January 12 - Grade School Night for our Basketball teams: Boys Basketball plays at 5:00 PM with the Girls following at 7:00 PM. We will be doing raffles during both halftimes.  

Saturday, January 19 - First Round Application Deadline and Placement Test: All completed applications received by this date are eligible for our St. Joseph Academic Scholarship.   
DeLaSalle Open House

Come see for yourself all the reasons why enrollment has grown so significantly at DeLaSalle in recent years!  Please plan to join us at our final Open House for Prospective Families on Wednesday, January 16, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  Also, please join us for the Entrance Exam and corresponding Parent Seminar on Saturday, January 19; the Exam starts at 8:30 am and registration begins at 8:00 am.
 
The application deadline for the Class of 2023 is Friday, February 15.

Santa's Secret Shop Thank You!
