All New Families are invited to the Ice Cream Social at the OLG school playground after the 6pm Sunday Mass. Fun and Yum!
Orientation Days-Volunteers Needed!
New Families: Tuesday 8/28, 6:30pm - 8pm
ALL Families: Wed 8/29, 9:30am-3pm
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to help with Orientation!  Many positions still need to be filled on both days to ensure everything runs smoothly. To review open positions and sign-up for a shift please visit SignUpGenius HERE.  
 
Unable to attend Orientation?
If you find you're unable to attend, please do the following:
1- Inform the school office  952-929-5463 ext 3 
(this allows your teacher conference time to open for others)
2- Designate another family/friend to register for you
(this ensures your family is ready to go on the first day of school)

Middle School Laptop Presentations 
Wednesday, August 29th
All middle school students AND at least one parent are required to attend one of the below laptop presentations during Orientation Day on Wednesday, August 29th. Students cannot receive their laptop until they have done this.
Presentations will occur in homerooms.

6th Grade: 9:10-9:55am OR 3:30-4:15pm
7th Grade: 10-10:45am OR 3-3:45pm
8th Grade: 10-10:45am OR 3-3:45pm
8th Grade Kickball Party  
Wednesday, Sept 5th from 5:30-7:30pm
8th Grade Families mark your calendar for the annual 8th grade
Kick Ball Party and Dinner Party. This is such a fun event that you will not want to miss! It is a great way to start off the year for both parents, kids, teachers and our Priests as well. Festivities will start on the softball field at 5:30pm! We will move into Cassidy Hall for Pizza, Salad and Cake after the big game is over. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Room Parent Lottery 
Register by Wednesday, August 29th at 3:45pm
This year you will have the opportunity to sign up for the Room Parent Lottery online via  SignUpGenius  (instead of doing it at Orientation). The sign up will close on Wednesday, August  29 at 3:45pm . At that point, the PSO chairs will randomly draw from the list of each classroom names and will notify you via email if you have been selected.  You may sign up to be a Room Parent for each child you have at the OLG. No previous experience is required for this position. There will be a brief training the first week of school. Your primary role will be to partner with your child's teacher to understand their needs for parent volunteers throughout the school year. Based on those needs, you will create sign-ups via SUG for parents to have the opportunity to help. Library Volunteer Lottery 
Available Until 8/29 at 3pm 
We are changing library volunteering a little this year. We are going back to the system used in the past. There will be three volunteers for each classroom that will serve for the entire trimester. Each trimester these volunteers will change. All volunteers will be picked after orientation from the lottery list and we will contact you. Those not picked will be put on a substitute list for each class. If a volunteer cannot make it, they MUST find a substitute. If you cannot serve for an entire trimester, let us know and we can try find a parent willing to split the trimester with you. If you would like to only be placed on the substitute list, let us know. We will have the sign up available at orientation but if you want one less thing to do that day, here is the LINK to Sign Up Genius for our lottery list.

OLG Spirit Wear
Available Until 9/10 
Order Spirit Wear! All purchases for Spirit Wear need to be done via the Online Store (see link below). There will be an opportunity to try on the Uniform Approved Sweatshirt during orientation
next week (see us in the gymnasium). In addition, we will have limited attire, Bernies, as well as coffee/water bottles for purchase. Once the store closes, orders cannot be placed until we open "the store" again in October. So please plan accordingly. We anticipate it will take up to 4 weeks to fulfill all orders placed during registration. All orders will be delivered directly to your child's
classroom.

OLG School Calendars
You can now easily add all OLG School events to your Google Calendar, Outlook or iCal. Navigate to the Calendar on our webpage and select the iCal Button on the upper left corner of the calendar. This will give you the url you need for any of those calendar platforms. Also, If you have not already, make sure you add the dates from the 2018-19 Release Day Calendar to your calendar.
Used Uniform Sale  
Stop by the gym to check out the   used   uniform  sale during Orientation. Prices range from $3-$5 for all   uniform  pieces, except blazers which are $15. 
  • Large Blazer selection with UPDATED patch (new last year).  
  • Hundreds of navy or green polos available.
  • Large selection of plaid Jumpers & Skirts, we've spent the off season repairing dozens just for your daughters!
  • Did you know we have extended sizes? Plaid skirts & jumpers are available up to size 16. Navy pants/shorts are available in men's sizes.
  • The only thing we lack is navy pants for size 4-7, those knees just don't hold up on those active little boys.
Remember, you can bring in outgrown, gently worn (no holes or stains) uniforms to exchange for new sizes or pieces too.

Health Office Reminders  
FORMS: Immunization records for K, new and before starting 7th grade can be turned in now if up to date. (Immunization records for other grades will not be kept) Annual Health Information records can be turned in anytime - these are for all grades. It would be best if you can email forms to Sheri at sherikyllo@olgschool.net.  
Transportation Reimbursement
Due by Wed, Sept 12th
ALL families that live outside the Edina School District #273, are eligible for a monetary refund BUT you must fill out the Reimbursement Form to get it. Please fill out this form once PER child. The correct response to question 4B is NO and 4C is YES. NOTE : Bloomington Families must ALSO fill out this additional Bloomington Form in order to receive any payment. If you have any questions,

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS
This Fall - Cub Scouts Open to Boys & Girls!
Cub Scouts has long been a popular program at OLG with many involved families and a lot of exciting activities you won't find anywhere else. Beginning this Fall, boys AND girls are welcome to participate in Cub Scouts anytime while in 1st through 5th grades. Dens in each grade level will be boys-only or girls-only.  The program at each grade level is the same for all and everyone will be part of OLG Pack 102. If you have boys or girls who will be in 1st through 5th grades this fall and would like to learn more about Cub Scouts at OLG, please sign up at orientation next week to receive more information.
