Weekends, the best day of the week!
Vegas Baby_
We had the most fun this past weekend! We went to Las Vegas!!! I have to tell you that I have only been to Las Vegas a handful of times in the last 30 years.
We drove up there because we had tickets to see the America's Got Talent (AGT) Live show at Planet Hollywood with the winner and several of the top 5 acts. Honestly, it was such a good show and two hours long!
AGT is my most favorite television program. I love it because these people have dreams and their dreams could come true. Just by being on the show, there is a high likelihood their dreams will come true whether they win or not.
That's my own personal 'happier ever after' daydream. I love it when someone gets to realize their dreams whether that means fame or finding the ideal partner or following their passion or having children or achieving whatever their particular feel good fantasy.

The AGT show was Saturday night so we also got tickets to see Circus 1903 on Friday night. This particular show was supposed to be here at the McCallum in March 2018 and we had tickets for it, but then the McCallum abruptly cancelled the event and refunded our money.
It was only later that we found out Circus 1903 had booked their show in Las Vegas so we bought tickets once again. It was so good! The show wasn't sold out unfortunately but the whole thing was amazing and made you laugh. I'm sure once word gets out about Circus 1903, the tickets will go like hotcakes!
Obviously the show was a series of circus acts and one of them, a guy who balances on aluminum tubes was terrifying! You know the tubes right? They stack them higher and higher and balance on them! Wow! As the guy, who was up at least 20' in the air btw, 'walked' the tubes in a circle the tubes barely stayed together! They rolled around to the edge and I caught my breath several times, afraid he was going to fall! So scary!
If you're interested, here is the link to Circus 1903. It's appropriate for adults and children alike -- if you have a chance, go see it!
AGT Billboard in Vegas
As far as the AGT show went, not only was the winner there -- Darci Lynne, the 13 year old ventriloquist -- I can't even believe how poised and completely professional she is, but also Angelica Hale a 10 year old singer -- big pipes on a tiny little girl, Light Balance a dance troop with light up costumes (truly amazing and perfectly in sync), and Preacher Lawson, the funniest comedian since Eddie Murphy.
Darci was the AGT winner and truly, anyone who can sing with their mouth closed deserves to win a million dollars! She even did an aria. AN ARIA with her mouth closed!! How in the heck does anyone do that?
I personally LOVE Preacher Lawson and follow him on Facebook . He is only a 20-something but completely and totally hilarious! He even made time to come out after the show to the lobby for pictures and to greet his fans (psst, I got to shake his hand!).
We made maximum use of our time in Las Vegas! We went to Fremont Street -- a place I don't believe I've ever been to before. Holy Moly! The people watching there was better than in Venice (CA not Italy). Some wild weirdos hanging all around but the atmosphere was light and fun. Here's a link to Fremont Street.
By the way, I am not a big gambler when it comes to betting money. I won't play any high stakes tables or slots but found a penny poker machine on Fremont that had 10 games at once and it was paying off nearly every play! Yes I know it was pennies, but I turned $20 into $50 so that was rewarding to me!
In between Friday and Saturday's evening performances, we went to Hoover dam! Have you been there? What a wonderful piece of history! It's hard to believe they could build something so long ago that was made so well it has lasted all this time. Really incredible.
All in all it was a great trip and a nice break. In fact, every weekend between now and Christmas is booked up so by the time the New Year rolls around, we'll likely need a break from our breaks!
That's the thing about weekends -- they are purposely built into the week to give you a break so take them! Go to Vegas or wherever you think to go. Follow your dreams! Find your own 'happier ever after'. I found mine (his name is Dan) -- how about you?
Halloween Recap
Dan and Leslie at Halloween 2017
So since we last talked, we went to West Hollywood for Halloween -- oh my gosh! Every year it is better and better. So many wonderful costumes! And, like Vegas, the atmosphere was easy and happy. No drunken behavior, just a lot of people having a great time!
Given the way the world has been going lately, the thought does cross your mind about how being in large crowds could be hazardous but you know what? You can't let that stop you from living a happy life.
So here are some photos from our Halloween adventure -- we think next year we might check out some of the local parties but we do encourage you -- if you haven't been to the Hollywood Halloween event, it is well worth the effort!

Taking Your Business to the Next Level...

One of my own dreams is centered around helping other companies improve their business or helping them solve their problems. I was fortunate enough to do that for 10 years in Aerospace, but now I get to do it again for all kinds of other companies.

Each week I do a Facebook Live video where we discuss helpful hints and tips. Tomorrow the topic is My Favorite F word (scared yet?). If you want to know, you'll just have to watch and see!

Please join us for "Live with Leslie" at 3pm PST tomorrow!

By the way, we've changed our format -- no longer will Jeff and I engage in conversation; instead it is just me and we've cut the time down from 30+ minutes to <10 minutes. The goal is to provide quick, detailed information that you can apply right away.
In addition, we have a number of webinars available on my Concierge Business Solutions® website and ALL of our "Live with Leslie" videos are on my YouTube page.

Happy Weekend Sign
Aren't weekends wonderful? For more years than I can count, I worked most of them and still work too many of them today. Overworking has somehow become a badge of honor, a way to say 'look at me' and 'how dedicated I am.' That's bull.
No one, at the end of his or her life ever thought "Look how much I worked". But many of them think "I wish I had spent more time with family or friends or having fun"
Weekends should be for fun and not work. It's challenging to take a weekend in a society so focused on instant communication and expectation of instant responses, but like everything, it all comes down to managing those expectations.
Do you know how weekends even came about?
In 1908, the first five-day workweek in the United States was instituted by a New England cotton mill so that Jewish workers would not have to work on the Sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
Road Trip Sign
In 1926, Henry Ford began shutting down his automotive factories for all of Saturday and Sunday. Despite the fact one might think there was a magnanimous reason for creating weekends, the truth is that Henry Ford believed if his workers had more time off, they would have more fun and maybe they would need cars to do it.
(By the way, that's the same reason he paid his workers double the going rate! More discretionary income would likely translate into more car purchases.)
The federal government began limiting work weeks to 40 hours in 1938 mostly as one of the components toward improving working conditions.
We all need to find that balance between working and fun. Being a workaholic makes finding that balance challenging but not impossible. Having a partner who enjoys time off also helps one rethink one's priorities.
We've officially reached the holiday season and if you don't use your weekends for pleasure at any other time of the year, try to do it now. The New Year will be here all too soon.
Until next time, remember Busy is a Choice, Stress is a Choice, Joy is a Choice... choose well...
