Back to School Blessings
Holy Cross students of all ages are encouraged to bring their ready-to-go backpacks on Sunday August 19 at the 10:30 service to receive a Special Blessing as they head off to a new year of learning. There will be a Back to Sunday School at 9:30 and Children's Chapel during the 10:30 service that day as well.
Bless other students in need
From this coming Sunday through August 12th there will be baskets in the Narthex for school supplies and gently used backpacks to be given to children in need. Our first group will be those to whom we give POWER PACKS each week at Hickory Tavern Elementary School, some children in our own Hispanic Congregation of whom Fr. Fred has made note, and if sufficient are given, we will add some from Simpsonville Elementary to be determined by teachers there. Goodwill has lots of backpacks for $2-4 that are in good condition if you don't have a little one's to pass along when they get their new one in a few weeks! It is essential that children have what they need if they are to be given the best opportunity to learn the skills needed to succeed in the world.
Supplies are already on the shelves at Walmart, Dollar Tree and local drug store where SALES are on. Staples also has a great deal on school stuff as well. It would be a good idea to get them prior to the rush. If you do not have time and prefer to donate $$$ to assist, see Trisha Thackston-Ganner or place a "School Supplies $$$" envelope in the plate on Sunday.
A list of needs will be posted in the Narthex as well.

 Stewardship Giving Progress

The 2018 Building Project has started!!
If you are visiting the Church throughout the week and see the orange cones outside of the main office...please use the Parish Hall entrance to the Church. We have signs up and want to make sure no one gets hurt. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Middle School Age Kids, we need you!
Actually, anyone 3rd grade and older, we need you.  Holy Cross is looking for Acolytes.  This is a wonderful way to serve your church and help the priests.  You get to learn a lot about the service.  Serve once a month or less.  Curious?  Questions?  Please contact Leslie Donahue at  We will teach you all you need to know!  Come to an information meeting on Sunday, July 22 at 9:30 am.  Thanks.

School is out for summer! Thank you to everyone who took the time to pack the bags, deliver to Hickory Tavern, and contribute food and funds during the school year.
We ask that you continue to remember Power PACKs when purchasing groceries over the summer, but please look for an expiration date of no sooner than October 2018 so that food will keep until the next school year. Monetary donations are also accepted and will be held in a designated account until needed. Please make checks payable to Holy Cross and put "Power PACKs" in the memo line.
For more information, please contact Leslie Donahue (,  Jennifer Hellams ( or Linda McAllister (
