July 2, 2021
Hello Morgan Hill!
Many of us are excited to get out and enjoy the summer weather and the 4th of July festivities. Please celebrate this wonderful holiday safely and responsibly with your friends, family, and neighbors. For those of you that love fireworks, we encourage you to attend the FreedomFest Fireworks show at the Outdoor Sports Center rather than using your own. Just a reminder that outside of permitted fireworks shows like the FreedomFest event, all fireworks are illegal in Morgan Hill.

The local number to report fireworks violations is 408-779-2101.

Please note that the City of Morgan Hill will be observing the July 4th holiday on Monday, July 5, 2021. All public safety services will continue as usual. Calls to City Hall and the virtual call center will not be answered immediately, but all messages will be returned on Tuesday, July 6.

Taking Steps to Re-Open City Facilities
Residents can still interact virtually or over the phone for any help needed.

The City of Morgan Hill is taking steps to reopen and make sure all offices are safe for customers and employees. We are planning a soft opening on Tuesday, July 6th, with limited hours. City Hall will be open from noon to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, until we are fully open. As soon as we have a date to open fully, we will let you know!

Applications for all permits are required to be submitted via email. The limited soft-opening hours will provide opportunities for staff to answer questions or provide assistance with the application process.

Although City offices have not been open to the public for several months, employees have been working behind the scenes to keep City services up and running. Visit the City's website to find information on how to access services you may need. For a list of the most frequently accessed services and contacts, visit https://conta.cc/3qtzJfb.

Private Sewer Lateral Ordinance: Countdown to June 2022

Let the countdown begin! You may recall from a recent 411 that a new sewer lateral ordinance has been adopted and will take effect on June 1st, 2022. It stipulates that privately-owned sewer lines will need to be inspected and repaired if damaged before a property can be sold. Fixing breaks in sewer pipelines to prevent rainwater from causing sewer overflows takes a team effort! Haven't heard about it or want to learn more, check out our website.

To help the community, the City is offering a pilot financial assistance program to assist homeowners with this new requirement and encourage faster repairs. There are two different grants that homeowners can apply for:
  1. Repair Grant for smaller point repairs along the line; or
  2. Replacement Grant in the extreme case that the entire line needs to be replaced with a new one.
Both grants will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget allocation is exhausted. For more information or to get on the grant waiting list, email Shannon Keener at [email protected].

Together we can keep sewer water from overflowing into our streets and creeks!
