Hello Morgan Hill!
Be Safe, Be Prepared, and Beat the Heat!

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11. Daytime highs in the 100s are expected. The heat is particularly dangerous to the elderly, small children, and those with medical conditions.

The Centennial Recreation Center (CRC) and Morgan Hill Library lobbies have been designated as Cooling Centers for the public to use as a place to find relief from the heat.

Please note that per the Governor's updated June 15, 2021 Orders, masks are required to be worn in cooling centers regardless of vaccination status.

Morgan Hill Library: 660 W Main Ave.

July’s Focus: Family Communication Plan

This month's goal: Have the ability to communicate with family members during a disaster.

Do 1 Thing” is a 12-month program that makes it easy to prepare yourself, your family, and our community for emergencies and disasters because preparedness tasks are broken down into small, manageable steps. Each month Morgan Hill's Office of Emergency Services will release a new educational YouTube video (July's) to help you complete the program.

Efficient Balance:
Community Growth
& Water Use

The Morgan Hill community has grown over the past 20 years, yet the same is not true for water use. In fact, local water use in 2020 was just about the same as it was in 2000! While thinking about growth during a water shortage is common, the connection between growth and water use is weaker than one might expect. This is largely because new development is much more efficient and Morgan Hill residents and businesses are now using water far more carefully than in the past. There are numbers showing 20-year population and water use that may help clarify trends.

Past droughts and the current drought always force water restrictions that may seem difficult to adhere to, but it's critical that we do follow all water use standards. Please visit the City's website for a reminder on current water use and regulations.
