Major Road Closures in Effect During
Back-to-School Week Traffic

The Morgan Hill Unified School District returns to school on Tuesday, August 16.

While there will be construction work throughout the City, the following streets will be closed the week school returns:

  • West Dunne Avenue between Barnell Avenue and Peak Avenue: Use Monterey/Spring/Dewitt as a detour. This closure will be in effect until late September.

  • Condit Road north of Dunne Avenue in front of the new Morgan Hill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Auto Dealership: Use Dunne/Murphy/Diana as a detour. This closure is scheduled through August 18.

  • Del Monte Avenue between West Dunne and Spring Avenue: Use Monterey/Spring as a detour. This closure is anticipated to last into November.

  • Depot Street between Monterey and Fifth Street: Use Monterey/Fifth as a detour. This closure is anticipated to last into October.

City Booth at Farmers' Market

This month the City is featuring recreation programs, earthquake safety and CADRE Disaster Preparedness. CADRE is a network of Santa Clara County organizations that provide community services that are essential in times of disaster. The network includes non-profits, faith-based organizations, government agencies, private sector companies, and other disaster relief entities in Santa Clara County.

The Morgan Hill Farmers' Market operates every Saturday until 1 p.m. at the Caltrain Station Parking Lot, 3rd St. and Depot St.

Schedule an appointment - Appointments are open for scheduling seven days before the testing date. Once all appointments are filled, this location will no longer appear as an option.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Registration Open for Basic Training Course Series
Class Date Range: August 30 - September 24

CERT training is a 20-hour, all hazard training program offered by Morgan Hill's Office of Emergency Services. Classes are a combination of online training and a one-day, hands-on skills session.

Registration is required before the first class session. Class is open to anyone over the age of 18. Community service hours are available to students who attend with a parent/guardian. Contact Emergency Services Coordinator Jennifer Ponce for questions.

20th Annual Second Chance Week, September 10 - 18

Help the community and the environment by keeping your unwanted items out of landfills!

To have your sale advertised for free on www.secondchanceweek.com, apply by August 26 for a Gilroy sale or September 2 for a Morgan Hill / San Martin sale.

Every day between September 10-18 is an opportunity to properly dispose of hazardous waste and to re-use, re-purpose, or donate unneeded items. The week kicks off on September 10 with the popular Gilroy Citywide Garage Sale and continues through September 17-18 with the Morgan Hill / San Martin Citywide Garage Sale. Applications and the week's schedule of activities will be included in August utility bills and are available online.
