AGRONOMY WEEKLY NEWS

The Return of Spring

With spring officially here, we are happy to announce our return to regular hours. Starting Monday, April 3rd, our offices will once again be open from 8-5pm! We are looking forward to serving you!

What's New?

Over the winter, the Co-op has taken the opportunity to invest in and improve our company. We have purchased 4 new 8 ton spreaders, 2 new sprayers and another fertilizer tender truck so that we can service our customers in an even more timely and efficient manner. This new equipment is complimented by our staff which has grown in not only size, but functionality. We are fortunate to have more drivers in the sprayers and trucks running the roads to serve you better.

Additionally, our Alvinston branch has acquired a new, state-of-the-art bulk seed treater. We continue to invest in your Co-op to ensure that we are able to offer the highest level of service!

Wheat

I'm not the first to say this, and I won't be the last, but Lambton County wheat looks FANTASTIC. The crop is starting to green up, and it is showing the right amount of tillers.

There has been lots of clover spread, but there is a significant amount still to go.

We expect to see some split application Nitrogen applied tonight and tomorrow morning on the frost.

Soybeans & Corn

Most seed is now in for the 2023 year and we are getting it ready for customers. We will start to call on producers in April to arrange seed pickups/delivery. Similarly, chemical is in as well, and orders have already started to move out of our warehouse.

From an agronomy perspective, we do not expect to see any supply issues in chemical or fertilizer. Additionally, compared to last year, we have actually seen the price of both fertilizer and glyphosate drop.

If you have not yet met with your agronomist to go over crop plans, there is still time! If you are interested, please feel free to call your agronomist to set up a meeting! Our company's agronomy expertise is no additional cost to you, but part of the service-centric experience we look to provide our farmers!

One key piece of information our agronomy team wanted to highlight in this edition as we come up to planting season is, "Plant when the ground is FIT, not by the calendar date".

All in all, we are so excited for another growing season working with YOU! Please feel free to reach out to either of our branches if you have any questions, or if there is anything we can do for you!
