AGRONOMY WEEKLY NEWS
Wheat
Rain, rain, and more rain. The rains have caused delays in T3 fungicide application on wheat.

One pro of all of this rain is that it will help the plant fill out the recently pollinated heads, and hopefully lead to a higher test weight come harvest.
Another wheat topic to be aware of is the new Grain Declaration that starts July 1st. This declaration is a personal attestation that your wheat is licensed. This form needs to be signed in order to bring wheat to any elevator or ship off farm. On the 2022 wheat tour, Megan & Floyd will bring these declaration forms to your farm for you to sign for easy adherence.

More information can be found on our website, or by calling Floyd or Megan!
Soybeans
In addition to wheat fungicide delays, soybeans are seeing delays in herbicide application as well as planting (the first or second time around). Additionally, with the slow planting season we have seen, it seems like a ways off, but we are a few weeks away from applying soy fungicides.

The moisture and heat have allowed weeds to progress just as quickly, so spraying will be a priority once the conditions are fit in order to allow the beans the room to develop without competition.

The majority of the soybean crop that has emerged looks good! In fields where soys were planted closer to these rains, we have seen some issues with emergence and crusting. Some fields have recovered, while some (more so as you go south), are still underwater or are having extreme moisture stress. Products like soy booster will be beneficial in helping the crop recover faster.

IP soybean producers may have to come up with spraying alternatives if wet ground persists and keeps you out of fields.
Corn
The corn is well on its way to be knee-high by the fourth of July.

We have had lots of herbicide application completed already, but if you haven't spraying should be completed prior to the 8-leaf stage.

Rains have slowed UAN application, but that is next on the agenda. Talk to your local branch to discuss your needs for a side-dress bar, as well as your application rates, and row spacing. If you are unsure of your application rate, speak to your agronomist.
