AGRONOMY WEEKLY NEWS

Wheat

Wheat is looking good! We had a mad dash last week before the rain getting some Nitrogen and Sulphur on the wheat, and as soon as the fields are fit, this will begin again! If you have not made plans with your agronomist already, please do so we can be as efficient as possible during busy season!

We have had some questions about 28% and the effect it has on red clover – from experience we have seen that clover not out of the ground yet, and clover at the cotyledon stage are both good with the 28%. If it is just popping out of the ground/in between those two stages it does have the potential to burn the clover, but it should grow out of it. Overall, clover will tolerate the 28%, but we should remember weather will play a factor in the results of this as well! If you have any other questions please write in or contact your agronomist!

Preparation

We are busy in the yard getting seed and chemical prepared to be delivered/picked up so that the product is ready to go on farm. If you would like to get your product ahead of time give us a call and we will get everything ready for you!

As always call your agronomists for any inquiries on pricing or availability.

Do you have any questions that you want our agronomists to answer in our next edition?

Agronomy Tip of the Week

We know time is tight for our farmers during the farming season, so this year, we are kicking off a social media campaign to summarize a weekly takeaway or highlight that our agronomists really want to push each week. "Agronomy Tip of the Week".

Natalia's Tip of the week: Fertilizer applications have begun and before we know it we will be at planting time. Be patient. Go out when your field is fit and the weather allows it, not just based on the calendar date.

Other Information

NEW! Wanstead Grain Text Updates

As Wanstead Farmers Co-operative continues its quest to get timely grain marketing information out to our farm customers, many producers have inquired about our ability to text our market commentaries and bids. Although we are limited by characters in what we can text compared to email, we are planning to start to send condensed text updates at midday in lieu of the traditional midday market emails (leaving the morning and closing commentaries via email).

Beginning April 15th, it is our intention, on a trial basis, to send out our midday commentary by text ONLY. We are also looking at using texts to communicate any grain prices/specials that might be being offered as well. If you wish to join our text updates list, please text GRAIN to 519-800-0436. You can opt out at any time.
