Planting
In our local area, roughly 90% of the corn planting is complete, and 75-80% of the soybeans are estimated to be in. Lots has happened in the last week between fertilizer application, working ground, and planting. Conditions have been fairly favourable for planting. Soybeans in the past week were planted deeper than normal in some cases to try and plant into moisture. Our area could use a rain to help the crops grow, especially if the temperature stays this dry. We are expecting soybeans planted the past week to take 7-10 days to pop up given the warm weather. Some late April corn is already through the surface, and May corn is expected to be close behind and could emerge any day.

Check out the corn emergence in this picture captured by one of our agronomists, Bradey, on this field north of Wanstead! She is really happy with the way things are progressing! This corn was planted on April 28th.
Wheat
The wheat is greening up and growing like crazy, but it could definitely use a rain. Our staff finished wheat herbicide, and just in the nick of time as the flag leaf is now emerging in many fields. We are anticipating the T3 fungicide application to go on in 3-4 weeks. Our agronomists did see some powdery mildew on a few fields of wheat while scouting, but most wheat acres were sprayed which greatly diminishes that as a risk to the crop. If the wheat continues to progress well and it gets some rain, we have the potential to have an early and bountiful harvest.
Seed, Fertilizer, and Chemical
Seed has been moving out of the warehouse quickly, but we do have some extra stock in case you need to finish a field. Fertilizer is now on most corn and soybean grounds. There are still a few guys finishing up, especially some customers on clay where the soil was not quite ready last week. Our staff is currently working on soybean burndown, and once that is done, corn herbicide will be next for emerging to 1-6 leaf.
What are our agronomists up to?
Agronomy: Jason, Bradey, and Darrin have been busy scouting fields lately. Primarily, they have been checking out soybean fields to recommend burndown options, or they have been checking emergence on planted corn, which they note has been really good and consistent. As always, please feel free to call or text them if you have any questions, or if you are searching for any expert opinions on agronomy.
