AGRONOMY WEEKLY NEWS

The Return of Spring

With spring officially here, we are happy to announce our return to regular hours. As of Monday, April 3rd, our offices are open from 8-5pm!

Additionally, we are closed tomorrow for Good Friday, and will reopen on Monday.

We are looking forward to serving you! Happy Easter!

Wheat

Rain, rain, rain. That is the hot topic of this week. The first showers we got seemed to range from 2-4 inches depending on location. Since then, we seem to have accumulated a few more inches. It seems all in all, many people received anywhere from 4-6 inches of rainfall over the week. Those volumes set us up fantastically for a soil profile with ample moisture for this planting season.

That being said, despite all of the rain, the water did get away quite impressively. We expect to see minimal areas of drowned out wheat.

In other wheat news, the crop still looks good and healthy. It is coming our of dormancy now, and it is going to start growing quickly now!

Over the next few weeks, we expect attention to be turned to getting nitrogen on the crop. It may take a while for things to dry up, so we expect when it does, things will be busy!

Soybeans & Corn

Most seed is now in for the 2023 year and we are getting it ready for customers. We will start to call on producers throughout the month to arrange seed pickups/delivery. Similarly, chemical is in as well, and orders have already started to move out of our warehouse. We encourage you to arrange to get your chemical and seed needs moved out early so you can beat the rush of spring season!

From an agronomy perspective, we do not expect to see any supply issues in chemical or fertilizer. Additionally, compared to last year, we have actually seen the price of both fertilizer and glyphosate drop.

If you have not yet met with your agronomist to go over crop plans, there is still time! If you are interested, please feel free to call your agronomist to set up a meeting! Our company's agronomy expertise is no additional cost to you, but part of the service-centric experience we look to provide our farmers!
