High School Sunday School

Please join us this Sunday over the next 4 weeks in the Youth Room at 9:15 am
We are starting some small groups in September and are taking names to form some groups.

We will be reading through “Loved and Sent” by Jeff Cloeter, a book that helps us to see who we are and what our purpose is. If you are interested in being a part of a group or hosting a group, let Pastor Brad know or sign up in the welcome center on Sunday.
Outdoor worship on Saturdays in August at 7:00pm

We are doing a two-week trial on an outdoor, mask-optional worship service on Saturday evenings at 7 pm on:

Saturday, August 21
&
Saturday, August 28
in our playground area

We will have some hymnals available and you’re also welcome to bring your own from home. A limited number of chairs will be set up but we strongly encourage you to bring your own camp chairs. We will consider the potential of continuing beyond these August dates based on demand for the service and continuance of the indoor mask mandate.
We are beginning a new, monthly worship experience that is intended for you. It is called Fourth Tuesday Friends.

God made us for connection – to Him and to each other. Some of those least able to connect have been those in higher-risk categories during the pandemic, and those who have a harder time getting around. So many are aching for community – particularly those who are more vulnerable.

Perhaps you’ve been closely following health directives. Perhaps you regularly attended our weekly At-Risk service for communion over the past year. Perhaps you need someone to drive you to get around and they aren’t available to help on Sundays. Perhaps the idea of making it to church on all but the rarest of occasions in the morning hours when you’re most stiff and sore is too much. Perhaps you’re in great health but miss seeing many old friends and keeping up your relationships in-person. While Fourth Tuesday Friends is open to everyone, if anything above applies to your situation, then Fourth Tuesday Friends is especially meant for you.

We will meet for our first Fourth Tuesday Friends on
Tuesday, August 24 from 3:45 to 4:30 pm

We will have some time for worship and will take communion together. We will also have time for you to connect with others and pray together. And we look forward to your feedback in how this new community can be of the greatest blessing to you going forward.

Would you join us on Tuesday, August 24th? Doors will open at 3:30 pm. We will observe any government health directives that are in place. We look forward to seeing you there.
We are slowly but surely nearing the completion of our new gym floor installation! The reason for the delays in completion is due to the high levels of moisture in our concrete slab. We did a lot of extra investigative work to make absolutely sure there were no major water leak issues at play, including cutting out cores of the concrete. The possible causes have all been checked out and cleared, leaving us with somewhat of a mystery. We decided to add an extra protective membrane to the top of the slab so that the glue from the new floor will adhere properly for the long term. The cost of that extra protective layer is about $34,000.00.

The dedication of this completed project has now been moved to Sunday, September 12. We anticipate the floor being available for use prior to that date but we want don’t want to have the dedication over a holiday weekend.
Every Tuesday Night starting August 24th
All Ladies of the Congregation are invited. We will meet on the Elementary Playground From 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Did you know that about half of adults do not have a will or trust? Did you know that about 70% of people who do have a will or trust have not kept it current? Did you know that only about 10% of people include charitable giving in their estate plans?

Mountain View has partnered with the LCMS Foundation to bring a consultant alongside you and your family as you consider how to leave a legacy for your family and to bless ministry efforts for decades to follow.

"Our experience with the LCMS Foundation was very positive. A couple of years ago, when we started to wrestle with the task of family estate planning, I saw an ad in the LCMS Foundation paper under estate planning. I called the number listed and got a call from a gentleman in St Louis almost immediately. He advised me that we had a local representative in Las Vegas who would give us all the info we needed and provided Brian Hyde’s contact information. After making contact with Brian, we set up a time to meet in our home and the rest is history!! He basically guided us through the entire process up to and including the legal side. Though the process isn’t quick, it is worth it to work with an LCMS representative like Brian."

This year, my husband and I finally decided to complete a “Lifetime Plan for Giving”, through the LCMS Foundation. My husband had two cousins who passed away very quickly from COVID. Neither of them had any kind of will or trust, and seeing the family go through probate has been quite an eye-opener. It is something I do not wish for my children to experience after my husband and I are gone. We contacted Brian Hyde, based on the recommendation from Julie Atencio, in our church office. Brian has been absolutely fabulous! Things neither my husband, nor I, understood before are now becoming very clear.  He answers questions and gives examples to help us to understand all the parts and pieces that our Plan for Giving contains. Brian has enabled us to realize the importance of gift planning, to ensure that our children won’t be burdened with legalities upon our passing. The relief we have in this planning has been immense, thanks to his explanations, clarifications, and ease to talk to and get to know. Brian’s patience, empathy, and sincere caring for us and our plans, is a definite blessing, which we are very thankful for.
