Flu Shot Clinic  - November 18 - Parish Hall
Rite Aid Pharmacy will host a  free flu shot distribution event in the Parish Hall immediately following the 10:15 am service on Sunday, November 18th.  Please bring your insurance cards - flu shots are free to all insurance card holders. In addition to regular flu shots, pneumonia, tetanus and age 65+ flu shots will also be available.

Community Thanksgiving Service - Tree of Life Church
On Wednesday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m.  Tree of Life Church PCUSA (formerly Princeton Presbyterian), 933 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, will host the Community Thanksgiving Service.  There will be clergy participants from six churches and a combined choir. The choir will gather to rehearse in the chapel at 6:30 p.m. The offering will go to support the work of the Springfield Ministerium as they care for those in need in our community.  A reception will follow.  This is a time to remember that there are things we have in common that cross all boundaries of politics and denominations, and one of those things is gratitude to a generous God.

Acolyte and Eucharistic Minister Training
Sunday November 25 after the 10:15 am service. Meet at the altar.

Youth Sunday
Will take place on Sunday, November 25 - Christ the King.

Christmas Treasures and More

The more able bodied, strong people we have the more quickly the process will go. Thanks in advance for your help. See Rick Doyle for more details.

Tuesday, November 27th - The date for our annual "Put It Out Party". Christmas items will be moved from the stage to tables in the Parish Hall. The fun starts at 7 pm. Mid-Week Holy Eucharist will not take place this week, Wednesday, November 21st.

Churchyard Clean-up Day
Thank you to all helped last Sunday with the tidying up of the church, garden and grounds, especially to Helen Lightcap for organizing the clean-up.

Christmas Angels
Once again we will be providing Christmas gifts and food for families adopted from Delaware County Children and Youth Services and the Upper Darby  School D istrict.  On Sunday, November 18th, nametags will be placed on a tree at the back of the church.  Please pick one or more gift tags off the tree, purchase a gift for that person, wrap it, place the tag on the package and return it on or before December 16th.  If you plan to buy more than one gift for the same person, take a tag for each gift.  Lists will be available with gift suggestions, clothing sizes, and food needed.  You will also find a master list.  If you know what you are going to get for a gift, cross it off the list so someone who has the same name will not duplicate it.  These are the poor families who struggle just to keep a roof over their heads and some have not even been able to do that.

Basic food staples will be needed for about 12 families as well as monetary contributions for food gift cards for meat and other perishables.  If you would like to make a monetary contribution, please make out a check to the church and mark it for the Christmas Angels.

On Sunday, December 16th, help will be needed after the 10:15 service to organize and pack everything for delivery.  A light lunch will be provided.

If you have any questions, call Jane Nyiri at 610-328-6506

Vestry Meeting
The date of the next Vestry meeting will be Tuesday, December 4th.

Volunteers Needed

Ushers Needed
If you can help with the special Ministry of Welcome, please contact Sharon Parry or send an e-mail to [email protected].

Prayer Book

At the back of the church is a Prayer Book.
On the cover it says  "For those in need..."  In the book please write in the names of those who need our prayers. Please enter the name and the date (and reason, if you wish). At every Eucharist and at Evening Prayer, we will pray for those named in the book. After a month, the person's name will be removed from our prayers, unless it is entered anew.

Please pray for those who need healing and comfort:

Emma, Joe, Kim, Lynne, Mathew, Ruth, Ry, Joe Atkinson, Charlie Bacinelli, Jan Briggs, Betty Brown, Eleanor and Frank Conroy, Bill Cottman,
Steve Farrell, Nancy Flohr, Katie and Bob Grange, Adele Hardie,
Theodore Henney, Richard Huber, Larry and Sharon Kanniard,
Ann Kolynych, Bob Mansure, Charlotte McLaughlin, Leslie Lennan,
David Petherbridge, Marjory Petherbridge, Ethel Robson, Peter Rosado, Mary Alice Salay, and those we hold in our hearts.

Please pray for the departed O Lord, rest eternal grant unto them and let light perpetual shine upon them.

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servants, and give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs, that those for whom our prayers are offered may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,  one God,  now and forever.   Amen.

Altar Flower Dedications

Sponsoring our Sunday altar flowers is a great way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, remember a loved one who has passed, or mark any other special occasion.  The suggested donation is $60, which offsets the cost of the flowers provided by Leary's Florist.  If you wish to sponsor the flowers, please submit your name and preferred wording of the dedication to [email protected] or in a note placed in the offering plate.

Property Team
Things To Be Done Around Redeemer Notebook

If you notice something that needs attention around the campus (i.e. leaky toilet, broken light, etc.), please record it in the black & white  notebook in the Property Team's mailbox outside the church office.

Blue Gift
Gift of Angels

There are expenses that pop up that are not included in our annual operating budget, and this program covers those.

Your gift to the Gift of Angels program can be in the form of a monetary donation or a gift-in-kind and can be made in thanksgiving or in memory of someone. It can cover all or part of an item on the wish list.  All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  You will receive recognition of your gift, and all gifts are recorded in our Book of Memorials and Gifts.

The Wish List currently includes: weed control supplies, buffer pads for a floor buffer, chairs for the Parish Hall, and a new BenQ Ht1070 projector ($600) to be used for our Christian education classes and movie nights.

Please make checks payable to Church of the Redeemer and designate Gift of Angels or your specific designation on the memo line.

Your consideration of support for this campaign is greatly appreciated!

Riddle Hospital's Hospice Comfort Cart

In an effort to improve the care they provide, Riddle Hospital has created a Comfort Cart for their patients who have been placed on hospice care.  The goal is to make each patient's room a calm environment while addressing the psycho-social and spiritual needs of patients and their families. They are seeking donations of prayer books and small bibles, religious items such as rosaries or icons; 3' x 4' blankets which are placed on the patients and taken home by the family after their loved one passes away. If you wish to help, please contact Stefanie McMahon at [email protected] or (484) 227-3240.

Christmas Treasures - December 1st

There are many ways you can still help make our largest fund raiser of the year a success.   Before the event:

Solicit donations for the Silent Auction. Letters are on the shelf in the rear of the church. After you have received the donation, record it on the list which is on the easel in the back of the church. Then, give it to Dawn Altomonte, Janet Barber, or Ginny Doyle.

Bake for the cookie walk. All homemade items are happily accepted.

Make soup. We plan to expand our soup sales, so people can purchase a quart of your delicious soup even before lunch is underway. See Linda Wren or Ginny Doyle for details.

Donate to our raffle baskets. Contact Carol Kane for more details.

Christmas items may be left on the stage at any time. Please mark Christmas Treasures on the bags or boxes.

There are many ways to participate before, during, and after the event. Please volunteer.

Christmas Treasures Raffle Baskets - Please help! Teams are busy putting together baskets for our Raffle Baskets at Christmas Treasures, and we need your help. If you are a member of a mission team, please see your team leader to donate to a basket. If you are not part of a mission team or have not been contacted, please see Carol Kane or Ginny Doyle to donate. We welcome monetary donations - $5 or $10 - or consider donating a bottle of wine.

Last year's raffle was a huge success because of you. Thank you for helping again this year!
