Weekly Letter From Our Pastor

Make a Difference, Change the World
Hands down the most powerful lesson I've ever received about, 'finishing strong' came from a completely unexpected source.

The conference workshop I'd planned on attending that day was filled, so I went next door where there was plenty of seating. Standing up front was a tiny bent-over elderly woman speaking ever so quietly into a microphone. I had no idea what her workshop topic was, but this was her story.

Every year, she and her husband made it a goal to increase their giving to the church by 1%. This challenge had started mid-life and to date they now give away over 50% of their income. Pausing, she informed us that a few months ago when her husband died, the first reaction of friends and family was, 'I guess you're done with the 1% challenge.' Smiling, she said, "After losing my husband, I realized I'm running out of time!" The audience was still chuckling when she quickly added, "From now on, I'm increasing my giving 2% a year!"

There was a long silence before someone raised their hand and asked the obvious question, 'How?' Not missing a beat she replied,
"I'm so excited! I can't want to see how God's going to make it happen!" In her economy, if she had the will, God was going to make a way.

The month of April we've been following the incredible journey of Nehemiah as he traveled from Persia to Jerusalem to complete a seemingly impossible job for the Lord. This week we wrap up that journey with this installment in our message series: Make a Difference, Change the World: Finishing Strong.

Living for Jesus!

P.S. Hope to see you all Saturday morning for some Spring cleaning. I'll be bringing my wife's famous homemade scones!

Camp Noah - Volunteers Needed
Camp Noah is a week-long day camp for children affected by a disaster, trauma or just looking for a week of learning and fun.  (Camp Noah is a service of Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota and our area was selected based on the tornado of last year and other various events that have happened throughout the year.)   During Camp Noah, a team of certified camp staff (provided by Camp Noah) accompanies campers through an intentional process that enables the children to process their disaster and/or trauma experiences and gives them the space and time necessary to tell their stories and build resiliency skills.  The camp is free to attend. Campers participate in small groups, large group time (including music, skits, crafts and recreation time.   We are looking for seven to eight volunteers that would be available to assist with meals during the day.  We serve breakfast, lunch and two snacks.  Please sign up on the clipboard if you are available one, two or all five days to help with this wonderful cause.  Camp will run June 18- June 22.

Meet the Living Water Family of the Week
Names: Kurt & Brenda Huseth
Something interesting about our household:
We love spending time on our pontoon and visiting our kids and grandkids whenever possible.  When we have extra time, Kurt enjoys his workshop and Brenda enjoys her horse Rocky! We are your ordinary happy (older) couple who have raised their kids and are now enjoying their empty nest.
How we became connected to Living Water:
Kurt's sister Pam Voigt and our friends Tom & Carla Moon invited us to be a part of Living Water.
What we like about Living Water:
Pastor Ned's passion for his people at LW and of course the contemporary music.
