TIS THE SEASON................
Thank you all for your generosity through the Giving Tree in support of the children of Merry Oaks!  Presents are due back now, wrapped and secured in a clear plastic bag provided in the reception center.  We will be contacting people who have not returned presents as a reminder.  We have 8 tags which were taken and not logged in so we are especially looking forward to those presents!  If you can’t drop off your presents by this evening, please contact Melissa Conway or Margaret Errington and we will work with you on arrangements. The presents will be passed out to the children at a small party on Saturday, December 8 at the school from 10-12.  If you can help either transport presents Saturday morning or help at the party meet at the church at 8:30 on Saturday or just join us at Merry Oaks at 9:30.  We have been told that the children are beyond excited!!
Please contact Melissa Conway , Margaret Errington or Toni Robinson . Thank you!
If you ordered a tree and/or wreath from the EYC, please plan to pick yours up Saturday morning!

We cordially invite the entire parish to our Christmas Pageant! It will be a delightful and entertaining retelling of the story of Christmas and Epiphany, told from the perspective of four eyewitnesses.

As we prepare for this great show, we invite the children of the parish to join us as part of the cast. There will be “room in the inn” for everyone to play a part! Here is what you need to know if you want to join in the show:

3-and 4-year-old children/Kindergarten students will be the Sheep. For the costume, we suggest making a white t-shirt covered with cotton balls, and a headband with sheep ears attached.

First, Second, and Third Grade students will be the Angels. For the costume, students should wear an oversized long-sleeve white shirt. (Wearing a white men’s dress shirt has been popular in the past.) We have angel wings and halos to pin onto the shirt.

Fourth Grade students will be the Shepherds. For the costume, we suggest a solid color robe with cloth or rope belt, a complimentary towel with headband, and a large stick. (If you don’t have a robe, use your favorite internet browser to search for “10 Minute Nativity Shepherd Costume” to see another option.)

Fifth Grade students will be cast as Named Characters. (Initial invitations for character roles will be based on Sunday School attendance.) Interested students should please contact Matt Williams at matt@stje.org for roles and costumes.

Please direct any questions about the Children’s Christmas Pageant to Matt Williams, your friendly Family Minister, here at St. John’s. His email address is matt@stje.org , and his phone number is 704-366-3034, ext. 238.
