It’s time for VEAP’s March Food and Fund Drive

From March 1-April 16, VEAP’s goal is to raise $300,000 and collect 75,000 lbs of food.

VEAP has experienced an unprecedented need for pantry items due to ongoing inflationary pressures, and there are many items they cannot easily procure. Every pound of food counts! VEAP is requested donations of non-perishable, unexpired items.

Over the next 4 weeks, St. Luke’s will be collecting items for VEAP’s Express/Emergency Packs. Express Packs are provided to participants who may not have an appointment and are in need of immediate assistance. VEAP distributes 35-40 Express Packs of shelf-stable items every day!

We request that you bring one of the following items each week:

March 9 – Canned Protein*

March 16 – Canned Fruit*

March 19 – Canned Vegetables* (No Green Beans)

March 23 – Rice (brown or white)

March 30 – Pasta (No Mac & Cheese)

*Each Express Pack contains 2 of each of the canned items

Donations can be made to VEAP through the weekly offering – just indicate VEAP on the envelope.

If you have any questions, please contact someone on the Missions Team or Becky Olson.

Easter VEAP Donations.

VEAP donations will be accepted. Forms are at the Welcome Desk in the Narthex. Click here for order form. Click here to pay online (Please email the office the order form or information (In honor/memory of...)

JOIN FESTIVAL CHOIR FOR HOLY WEEK WORSHIP

On behalf of St. Luke's Choir, we would like to extend an invitation for you to join us as we create a Festival Choir for Holy Week worship. Adding singers like you allows more depth and volume to our choir anthems, which will range from majestic (Palm Sunday) to sorrowful (Good Friday) to jubilation (Easter Sunday) - all in one week's time. We would love to have you join us on this musical and emotional rollercoaster.

What time commitment would it mean for you? The easy answer is - we will take anything your time and availability allows. Here is what the schedule would look like:

Rehearsals

Festival choir rehearsals would begin on Wednesday, March 19th immediately after the Holden Evening Prayer Lenten Worship (approximately 7:35 PM) and would continue each Wednesday until Holy Week - Mar 26, Apr 2, Apr 9, Apr 16 (this rehearsal would begin at 7:00 PM). I will try keeping rehearsals to one hour, but we may need to go later on some Wednesdays.

Worship

Festival Choir would sing on:

Palm Sunday, April 13 at the 8:30 AM Worship

Good Friday, April 18 at both the 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM Worship

Easter Sunday, April 20 at the 8:30 AM Worship

We know you may not be able to commit to all of the above but know that you are welcome no matter how much time you can give us. Contact Patrick Lair @ patrickl@stlukesbloomington.org if interested or if you have questions.

Community Life invites you to join us for

A Lenten Note from the Worship & Music Committee

As we begin another Lenten season, it might be a good time to pause a bit and reflect on some worship traditions that we see, say, and do so often we may forget to really take notice of them. For instance, the seasonal color for Lent is purple, signifying penance, sacrifice and preparation for Easter. Beginning Ash Wednesday, you will see the seasonal color in the altar paraments, pastoral stole, and even the flags out front.

This Lenten season, the Worship & Music Committee would also like to suggest we reflect on two worship staples: the Apostles’ Creed, where we profess together our Christian faith, and the Lord’s Prayer, where we remember how Jesus taught his disciples to pray. Please follow the Worship Assistants’ lead as we try to slow down and think about the words of both of these meaningful parts of our Worship experience

Altar Flowers

If you would like to order altar flowers for 2025, the cost is $40.00. Please sign up on the Altar Flower board in the Narthex, contact the office, 952-881-5801, or office@stlukesbloomington.org. If you have any questions, please contact Bette Gamboni at 952-888-8317 or bjgfree2010@gmail.com.

If so, the team would love to use them and the office would love to save them for future use (maybe the 125th reunion!). Please send pictures to SocialMedia@stlukesbloomington.org.
